Three Tune Tuesday ~ Uriah Heep ~ Mick Box ~ Birthday Boy #94

Welcome to my #TTT #ThreeTuneTuesday entry!

Today, as expected, I bring you another birthday celebrant. This week it’s Mick Box, the name by which the English musician born in 1947 is known, who turns 79 today.

Michael Frederick Box has been the lead guitarist for the band Uriah Heep since he was 19—just imagine that! He is the only current member of the band who has been with it since its founding in 1969.

This English band has undergone several lineup changes and reshuffles over the course of its 57-year career.

This band was one of the pioneers of the rock, hard rock, and progressive rock scene in the early 1970s. The band, which has sold over 40 million albums in the United States alone, truly brings back many memories and offers plenty of musical references to today’s bands. The vocals evoke artists ranging from David Bowie to the sound of Pink Floyd, including Def Leppard.

I have to admit I didn’t know much about the band, but the third track I shared here, called “July Morning,” had me completely hooked. And with so many references to much more modern songs and bands. It’s impressive to see how a British band from the late ’60s stood out for its immense quality and originality.

I hope you enjoyed these three tracks I chose to share with you today, and in celebration of their oldest member, who turns 79 today!

Now I want to share a little bit about how my week has been. This week, despite being shorter than usual—since tomorrow is Portugal Day and the Day of Portuguese Communities, making it a national holiday—it’s going to feel really good. I need a day off from work to somehow get my household chores in order and to organize my tax return. The deadline for submission is the end of this month, but I admit I should have done it sooner. I don’t really like leaving things until the last few days before the deadline, because there are always unforeseen issues that can arise—and that can easily be avoided if we submit on time and complete the process.

Today I also noticed that the NASDAQ 100 ETFs took a massive hit, dropping by just over 0.9%! But I know full well that this type of investment isn’t meant for taking profits in the short or even medium term. I’m not going to sell, and I don’t intend to. I’m building my financial independence bit by bit, which I hope to achieve by 2040. We’ll see if I can do it and if the markets and trends of the last 50 years hold up.
