How is everyone doing?

How’s your week going so far? Have you been doing okay? I hope so.

Today wasn’t a great day for me, but it wasn’t terrible either. I ended up getting very little done of what I’d set out to do, which just makes the chaos even worse.

But tomorrow is another day, and that’s what matters. We shouldn’t leave to others what we can do better ourselves—and what we want to improve in ourselves. We can’t give up, right?

Today I’m featuring another birthday girl here. And she’s very special, because even though I can’t remember her name, it came to me almost immediately when I looked up the songs she sang.

And they are, as most of you will recognize, some of the biggest hits of the ’80s.

Antonia Christina Basilotta, the American singer, choreographer, dancer, actress, and director, was one of the key figures who inspired an entire generation to sing along to a song that, at the time, was more than just a fad.

Titled “Hey Mickey,” the hit reached the top of the charts in several countries, including the U.S., Australia, and Canada.

Of Italian descent, Basil was the daughter of an orchestra conductor and a vaudeville actress.

Basil graduated in 1961 from high school in Las Vegas, where she was the cheerleading captain.

The music video for her first song clearly showcases the artist’s choreographic skills combined with the art of dance.

And if you want to be amazed, this artist—who turned 83 today—had a video from a little over a year and a half ago where she’s dancing in a way I’ve never danced in my life, and could never even do!

What about you—do you also have a particular love for dance or choreography? I can say I’m all thumbs, and I don’t think my coordination has ever been so terrible! Hahaha
