Three Tune Tuesday ~ Robert Smith ~ Birthday Boy #87
Welcome to my #TTT #ThreeTuneTuesday entry!
Robert James Smith, born on 21 April 1959, is undoubtedly one of the most renowned and longest-serving lead singers among the most popular bands. The lead singer and principal songwriter was one of the co-founders of the world-famous band ‘The Cure’. The band formed in 1976 and their primary style was punk rock, which grew out of the original movement. His unique vocal tone, as well as his very distinctive style of introducing a gothic and highly theatrical element associated with all the band’s greatest moments, left an indelible mark on the British music scene. Born and raised as a Catholic, he later ‘converted’ to atheism. He received formal musical education from a very early age, which included piano lessons, which he attended with his younger sister. At the age of nine, he began taking classical guitar lessons, but soon stopped attending formal lessons and began learning by ear.
I shall let the music speak louder than my words, for there are no words to describe the genius and originality of this unique artist!
