Three Tune Tuesday ~ Peggy Lee ~ Birthday Girl #92

Welcome to my #TTT #ThreeTuneTuesday entry!

Hello, good afternoon, everyone!

Welcome to another weekly post here in this community, at the invitation of the great Ablaze.

But before I start talking a little about the great artist who would be celebrating another birthday today, I want to ask you how you’ve been doing?

How have you been spending your time? Have you noticed that we’re almost at the end of the fifth month of the year? We’re right on the cusp of the sixth month, and in just over a month, we’ll wrap up the first half of 2026.

It still feels like it was just yesterday that I finished college, and more than twenty years have passed... much more. I’m very close to turning 30. Today I’m celebrating another year of that memorable date for me: the completion of my university degree.

Don’t you notice that as you get older, time seems to pass much more quickly? When we were children, time seemed to almost stretch out. Those late afternoons, and even summer evenings, felt as if they went on forever. And there is a scientific explanation for this “phenomenon.” There is an explanation for why it seems to us that time is passing faster and faster, especially after we’ve entered the workforce.

But who knows, maybe one day I’ll write a few lines about this interesting phenomenon!

Today I want to talk a little about the stratospheric star who was born on this very day in 1920 and would be celebrating another year of life today.
But like any other artist with an unparalleled voice and talent, the memory of Peggy Lee will never fade, and her songs will be listened to forever. It’s impossible not to be swept away by a sweet melody, carried by her delicate tone and truly striking voice. The artist and songwriter was one of the most important musical influences of the 20th century. She composed over 700 songs and recorded more than 1,100 tracks. She was an artist known for countless works, and who was honored throughout her career spanning more than seven decades. How many artists can we even name who have had such a long and prolific career? Very few, obviously. The artist who was nominated thirteen times for the most important music award in existence—the Grammys.

There is much to be said about her, but I don’t think I could add much to what has already been written in biographies and autobiographies. I’ll leave you with three tracks here that, while they don’t fully capture or do justice to all that this American jazz and pop singer and actress has achieved and accomplished, are still worth listening to.

I hope you enjoy my selection!
