Do You Stare With Ungrateful Eyes?

Like the title asks, "do you stare with ungrateful eyes?". This is one question that many do not ask themselves but on close analysis, they are active participants of it.

The masterpiece "ungrateful eyes" by Jon Bellion clearly spells out what it means to stare with ungrateful eyes and what simple things we could do to stop the judgemental stares.

Staring with ungrateful eyes in this context means asking incessant questions about certain things around us; especially the natural phenomena that we can't fully understand. But have you ever thought of appreciating the beauty in things rather than asking so many questions?

I never thought that I could like all the songs I've come across from one artist but Jon Bellion changed this perspective. His songs have a way of tweaking my inner thoughts. They are mostly very simple and easy to understand but with very deep meanings.

Ungrateful eyes is one song from Jon that I came across early this year. After listening to the song three times in a row, I asked "where has this song been all my life?".

Source

I do not know if it is only me who does this but whenever I listen to songs, I do it with an open mind. Ready to learn, ready to assimilate the message–if logical–from the song.

Personally, I used to ask so many questions. Where did these stars come from? Why do we have clouds? Would the sun ever run out of energy? Very many questions and more often than not I never got any answers.

After listening to this piece by Jon, I learnt to appreciate the beauty in things. Instead of questioning and doubting, I decided to make peace with it. Moreover, like they say, some questions are best left unanswered.

It didn't take me long to fall in love with the natural elements;both the explainable and the unexplainable ones. One natural element I could stare at all day long are the clouds. Have you ever cloud gazed for a prolonged period of time?

One thing I do know about cloud gazing is the fact that it is a very soothing and relieving practice. At the moment, you just stare at the natural beauty. How the clouds take different shapes. How beautiful they look up there. In that moment, you could feel a rush of positive energy.

Recently, I learnt something about how our environment can directly affect our emotions. And in order to remain happy most of the time, we have to create a balance. Now, creating a balance between our internal and external environment might not be the easiest of tasks but we all have to start from somewhere.

The first step to creating this balance is being able to appreciate the little and big things in life. Having an attitude of gratitude. I cannot overemphasize the importance of gratitude in our lives.

Most times, when people show their gratitude, they do it to fulfil all righteousness but I'd have you know that there is a huge difference between forced gratitude and willing gratitude. The former is more like a chore but the latter is genuine and this genuineness benefits us more than it benefits others.

The song 'ungrateful eyes' may evoke different thoughts and perspectives in different people if only they're open to the possibilities. This song would always be one of my favourite pieces from Jon because of uniqueness and wholesomeness. It is one song I could put on repeat without batting an eye.

Not so many people may have come across this song prior to today, but if you have, I would like to hear what you think about the piece. Does it also tweak your inner thoughts?

It's even the title that got me magneted.

Playing the song after reading all these, I expected the song to be moody but it was the opposite 😄

Hehe, Jon sings moody songs with amazing beats😄, you may not even notice. His beats are that good.

I'm glad you took out the time to actually listen to the song. Thank you😊

but I'd have you know that there is a huge difference between forced gratitude and willing gratitude.

I never thought in this direction. Yes you are right. Forced gratitude is different than that of genuine gratitude. I am not sure how we can achieve the genuine gratitude. Perhaps ot is not a thing achieved once and for all, but it is continuous struggle to keep your heart clean so that gratitude may reside in it.
