Do You Consider Yourself Attractive?
Do you consider yourself attractive?
Maybe? No? Or a full-fledged yes?
I am one to appreciate beauty when I see it but for years, the people around me have wondered what I classify as beauty. I could literally throw my hands up in exhilaration while appreciating something that every other person thinks is awfully ugly.
Over the years, I've eradicated the word ‘ugly’ from my daily vocabulary. This is because I believe that it's not in my place to decide whether a thing is ugly or not.
Daily, the number of people who are insecure about themselves grow and not by a small number. We all have flaws and because of these flaws, we second guess ourselves. Why are my teeths irregular? Why am I suffering from vitiligo? Or why am I thin when my mates are healthy?
Recently, a person who I considered “very confident of her looks” suddenly became insecure. This young lady is beautiful inside out by society standards; a pretty face, a fine shape, and an equally beautiful brain. As she aired her insecurities to everyone, I was dumbfounded. If someone who is “normal” by society's standard is still insecure, what about those who the society constantly castigate because of their looks?
These insecurities can escalate from just a simple comment by a random stranger to a very severe health issue. Yes, our insecurities can have detrimental effects on us once we accept strangers views. This is one of the reasons why people go to the ends of the earth just to correct these flaws. Sometimes, it works out for them and other times, they are forced to live with something worse than the initial flaw.
It goes without saying that some of us make conscious efforts towards making people feel uncomfortable. They know very well that they have huge acne or black spots on their face so a remark like “eww, why is your face like this?” is not usually very necessary. Such remarks make people very uncomfortable even if they chose to hide their discomfort.
I guess all I'm trying to say is that we are all beautiful and attractive in our own way–irrespective of what people think. We just need to accept our flaws because they are ours. If they are eventually cured, great! Else, they are here to stay and there is nothing wrong about that. In no time, these flaws become part of our personality and if people cannot accept you for who you are, then that's their loss and not yours(Pun intended :).
A little advice would be: Instead of focusing on the negatives, try to focus on the positives instead and as you do so, remember that beauty is subjective.
The song “just the way” by Parmalee and Blanco Brown has a lot more to say about beauty imperfections. The song reminds listeners that no one is perfect! Everyone has a flaw but their ability to accept this flaw is what makes them stand out.
It's a beautiful piece of music to listen to when you begin to have doubts about yourself. Also, sending it to friends who have doubts about themselves would only remind them that you love them just the way they are.
I hope you enjoy listening to this masterpiece
This is a beautiful song @wongi we all are beautiful in one way or another, if we stop comparing ourselves to one another a lot more people could be happier.

We are all beautiful in our way indeed. There's beauty not only in the face but in one's attitude.
Everyone is a beauty and seeing yourself as someone who needs to hide under make up or create a version of you that don't exist online is you belittling yourself because you are already perfect just the way you are.
I like the music shared. As I listen in, the lyrics are really touching.
The lyrics are touching and comforting to an extent. And I agree with you when you say we are all beauts😌

If we chose to go by the common judgement of others about our us, many people would never be happy. It's good to consider good vibes only. Anyone that brings negative vibes should be made to go his way while we remain happy. I love the song as I love the accompanying write-up. Thank you @wongi

Yes...i totally agreed on on the fact that is not in our hand to determine what is ugly, neither to judge, because there is non that does not have flaws in what ever we are all doing because no one is perfect as you said, thanks for this wonderful post friend.
I love that we share the same thoughts on this dear😊

Thank you so much is my pleasure to receive such. Thanks as much @wongi
It's a pleasure.
Truly beauty is subjective, hence its unnecessary for one to judge himself by societal standards. Even though we are easily tempted to become insecure, it has no reward. I choose to focus on the positives just as you have said, it's the best one can do for self.
You are very much in track dear graat. It is always best to focus on the positives and leave the negatives.

I find that it is that instant of interaction which is crucial where even the most polite person may show a reaction that can make a person feel uneasy. I have noticed that once people start interacting people generally forget about the differences in physical appearance unless it is very very extreme. The bigger problem is the false idea of perfection driven through media, ads, and visual content that drives people crazy trying to fit in to the box :( I hope more people read your post and realize they are the best and unique in themselves.
Cheers from a fellow #dreemerforlife.
Many people are lucky enough to come to the realization that they indeed unique but others do not come to terms with this fact and it affects them greatly. And like you said, the media plays a crucial role in it.
Thank you so much for coming around dearest dreemer.
