Country Ballads From Don· Reeves and Rogers.
It's been a great week so far with the fathers day celebration kicking off the week. Although it's coming late, happy father's day to all the fathers in the space. My newfound love for country music made the fathers day celebration even better. I must say country music knows how to put people in just the right mood.
With fathers at the back of my mind, I'd be sharing three tunes from three male country ballads. Buckle up as I take you on this ride; it promises to be fun.
Welcome to My World by Jim Reeves('63)
This is one song that is perfect for slow dancing. Reeves was known for his impeccable and soothing vocals. I could easily sleep while listening to this track as it has a way of setting your worries aside.

From the verse of the song, one could detect that this is a Christian based song, else, a person could easily mistake it for a love song; the perks of having a soothing voice.
I Don't Call Him Daddy by Kenny Rogers('93).
Honestly, when I saw the title of this song, I was eager. The title is a very catchy one; not what you'd expect with such a title but well, the song tells a tale.

Many covers of this song have been made but the original version still sounds good. The song tells a tale of the relationship between a father from a broken marriage and his son.
Kids with divorced parents always have to live with one parent and in this case, the boy took his mom's side yet he still loved his father as much. This is a really heartwarming tune suitable for everyone;)
I Would Like To See You Again by Don Williams ('78)
Saving the best for the last. A masterpiece by Don which evokes a lot of emotions.

Many times, we come across people in life and for a moment, it feels like you would be friends with them forever. One thing leads to another and you two go separate ways.
Eventually, the urge to meet and connect with these people comes and you'd like to see them again. The song reminds me of all my 'friends' in diaspora. Another heart-warming tune.
One thing I observed from the three tunes is the fact that the soundtracks sound awfully similar to the tunes used to nursery rhymes nowadays. Take "I would like to see you again" for instance, the first time I listened to it, the nursery rhyme "the wheels on the bus" came to mind. Could be because I stay around kids a lot :)
It's amazing how I get to add new tunes to my playlist weekly, courtesy of #threetunetuesday initiative by
@ablaze. It's Tuesday and a great day to share tunes with fellow music lovers. Don't hesitate to join in the fun.
With love, wongi ✨
I didn't know country was legal in Nigeria. What in the hell's next, gangster rap in Vatican City? = }
You can't exactly make an unknown thing illegal ;). Not many Nigerians appreciate country music.
Heart like a truck is most definitely going to my playlist. I love it. But it's funny how country music has changed over the years.
If Nigeria had a National genre, what would it be?
It would afrobeat. Characterized by pidgin English and danceable beats.
Well this just got fun. When you said danceable, I grabbed the link to this DJ Icey track I'm listening to on the treadmill right now. It's fight music. I swear it is. Dance, sure, with a touch of march directly into battle and kick the dust off your shoes music.
But, I listened to Oxlade track first like GOT DANG I've never heard so much autotune in my life!!
Weeell, you're good at describing things😅. The track is great for a workout session; it would motivate me to break records.
I've listened to so many autotunes and at this point, I can't even tell the difference.
Settled. What's for dinner? I'm coming over.
We'd be talking about lunch over here. And what I'm having is something you've probably never tasted 😅. You may or may not like it. We call it soup.
A liquid, brothy substance in a bowl with vegetables and maybe a protein, bread and butter, something like that?
Never heard of it.
What a throwback series you got there!
I'm sure I'm not the only one that's yet to listen to these songs. Lol😄.
Nice collections 🙌
Nooo, you're not. There are still many people behind you😅
Thank you
Lol😄.
I know that 😎
