Adulting and LPUD.

Have you ever listened to a song which you eventually hummed to for the rest of the day? A song that just wouldn't leave your subconscious for days or even weeks?

This usually happens whenever I listen to classics from the 70’s or 80’s. I just hum to the tune of the song at random; as long as the tune pops into my head.

I recently listened to one of such songs courtesy of the animation sing(an amazing animation). Not only did this song give me chills but I also sang it for days on end.

A verse of this song was sung in the beginning of Sing 1 and irrespective of how many times I see the animation, that part still gives me chills. I do not know about you but listening to good music from an artist with amazing vocals gives me chills.

So, I would be sharing this song with you today. I must confess that I prefer the cover to the original version of the song. This is because the cover has much more details. You listen to the cover and you are convinced that this is a powerful yet lovely piece of music.

“Golden Slumbers: carry that weight” is a song initially sung by the Beatles in the year 1969. The song generally speaks about the progression of humans from childhood to adulthood. It reminds its listeners of the time when they were kids. As kids, they had little to no responsibilities. Life was essentially eating, playing, crying and sleeping.

Most of the time, I sit to reminisce on those days. Days when I would get a plate of ice cream and vanilla flavored cake just being a good little girl; after all, I wasn't paying so I loved every bit of it! I can't say the same now.

Then life happened so fast.

Like I always say, there should be some form of adulting manual handed out to upcoming adults to better prepare them for the future. It isn't taught in school, many parents do not even tell their children about it so everyone is left to figure it out on their own and take the blows that come with it as adults right?

Golden Slumbers is a song that reminds us of the weight we get to carry as adults while still remaining strong and resilient. This is probably the reason why many kids see adulting as something to envy. Because the adults do not act as if they are carrying any form of weight when in the actual sense we all have different burdens to carry.

One interesting discovery I found out about this lullaby-like song with soothing melody and lyrics is the fact that it is based on a poem written by Thomas Dekker nearly 400 years prior to the release of the song.

It’s a really soothing yet striking tune to listen to. Although it reminds people of past memories, it is still worth listening to.

Which version do you prefer? The cover by Jennifer Hudson or the original version by The Beatles. Do tell.

In the light of adulting, setting and following through with my goal, I powered up 24 leo tokens today being leo power up day. It may seem really insignificant but it certainly is progress compared to the past months. I hope you powered up some leo tokens too?

This article was inspired by the April inleo monthly calendar which you can find here. You are invited to join in the fun:)
