This time we had the opportunity for the first time to visit a traditional but also educational tourist attraction, which is located at Way of Padasuka Number 118, Pasirlayung, Cibeunying Kidul District, Bandung City, West Java 40192, Indonesia. Here is a map link to the location: https://maps.app.goo.gl/M6wDFMGJhSF4xneFA

This place was founded in 1966 called Saung Angklung Udjo. We visited on Sunday, November 17, 2024. Saung Angklung Udjo is a performance venue as well as a center for bamboo handicrafts, and a bamboo musical instrument workshop.

The location of Saung Angklung Udjo is quite spacious, has sufficient parking. and, in the tourist area there are souvenir shops, cafes, prayer rooms and toilets. This means that this place is quite comfortable. Today, people's visits to this place are so dense

This place also aims to be an educational laboratory and learning center to preserve Sundanese culture and especially angklung. Angklung comes from the Sundanese language angkleung-angkleungan, namely the movement of the angklung player and forming the klung sound it produces.

This musical instrument is made of bamboo, played by shaking it (the sound is caused by the collision of the bamboo pipe body) so that it produces a vibrating sound in a series of 2, 3, to 4 notes in each size, both large and small.

This is my first opportunity to visit this place. We arrived at around half past ten in the morning, and the event will last for 90 minutes from ten in the morning West Indonesia Time. The event is very interesting. Even along with our group there were several visitors from Japan and Singapore.

The event began with singing the song Indonesia Raya followed by a puppet show Also Known As WAYANG that performed for about fifteen minutes with the title of the story of Rama, Shinta and Rahwana. But, this Wayang is specific called Wayang Golek. Visitors seemed to really enjoy this puppet show.

This angklung performance was also enlivened by children from the Saung Angklung Udjo studio. The performance of these children brought a musical drama with angklung telling the local culture before the circumcision for boys who were entertained by traditional dances of their peers

This angklung performance was made more complete by the appearance of singers who performed various genres of songs, increasing the enthusiasm of visitors today.

Specifically there was a mask dance performance played by five beautiful women who danced gracefully, then in the middle of the dance they wore masks and the dance changed to being brave.

We also had a briefing to quickly learn how to use the angklung, followed by practice to accompany songs.

Not only Indonesian songs were played with the angklung, but also songs from abroad such as Elvis Presley's songs and others added to the excitement of today's event

As soon as we entered this place we were given souvenirs in the form of necklaces with pendants in the shape of small angklungs. And finally the performance ended with a song performance that invited visitors to come down to the arena to dance and dance together to the rhythm of the angklung song being played
