Hello music lovers.
It's @winanda here again for the Vibes Web 3 Music Competition Week 15 with the entry of the cover of the song, "Lighthouse" by Kelly Clarkson.
Kelly Clarkson is one of my favourite artists and I have been looking forward to doing a cover of her song. Last week I came across the video of Lighthouse on YouTube where she was live at the Belasco theater and after listening to her short story before her performance, I felt I should cover this song and send a message.
You see, being in a relationship or marriage is not that rosy, it might start good and sweet with dreams of achieving great things with your partner but along the line, something happens and you question yourself, "What went wrong?"
I know what it feels like to be in a toxic relationship with someone who wants to change your personality not because it's bad but because that is what he wants, being authoritative and overly demanding, you could lose yourself, the real you, your shine. It drains you and affects your mental health. This is what I experienced and won't again, lol.

Now because you've built so much love and trust for the person, you try to fight to make things work, hoping there would be a positive change, but if only you knew that an adult is AN ADULT and can only change if he desires to, you wouldn't fight longer but walk away for your sanity, health and to live for you and your children if there is any.
According to Kelly Clarkson, what she went through at that moment was what inspired her to write this song to say, "It's over, I'm done with this."
You can't be in a toxic relationship or marriage and expect to function properly, it can't work, you need to heal and get yourself back and the best way to do it is to walk away first and stay away from a negatively charged environment.
I hope you don't get into a toxic relationship. Be you and the one who would love you and all that concerns you would treat you right.

Haha no need to cover your beautiful face in shame. You made it on time and that's all that matters. You followed the rules. Great job.
I really liked your entry, it is one of your better ones, especially knowing a bit of the backstory from your previous marriage. The controlling changing pressure factor can indeed play a big role and impact on our mental health if we allow it. But you conveyed those emotions and sentiments well in your nice singing voice with a hint of triumph that you are confident never to let anyone take your shine away. Quite inspiring. I think you would have sang it even stronger in a slightly lower key more comfortable within your singing range but I appreciated your performance this week.

The backstory was my experience in a toxic relationship and the artist's (Kelly Clarkson's) experience in her marriage with children, I have not been married. I should have stated it clearly to differentiate hers from mine.
I'm glad to hear about my improvement from you and I have taken note of your suggestion in singing within my range which I will implement in future. You're right, I would have done it better and more comfortably in a lower key, I watched it again, lol.
