My Book of Revelations Soundtrack - Part 3 - The Bad Guy That Goes By Many Names

Pleased to meet you, My Name is Morningstar.gif

A while ago I (re)discovered a book by a guy called John. John was all by himself on a Greek Island. The estimated due date of the book must have been a couple of years after they nailed Jesus to the cross. As documentation was not yet digital exact dates are not kept.

During his stay on that Island, he experienced some crazy things and it might have been the loneliness or something stronger but what he ended up writing was beyond anything else in the Bible. Hence this book is often found to be an inspiration to somewhat darker songs and occult stories.

The Book of Revelation is therefore also known as the Apocalypse of John, the final book of the New Testament in the Christian Bible. And I get it being the final book, because how would one top this epic ending?

I took it upon myself to do some digging and come up with a nice mash-up of religious writings and modern songs.

Chapter One

Part 1 was about those gorgeous ladies of Revelation My Book of Revelations Soundtrack - Part 1 - The Ladies of Revelation

Chapter Two

The Second Chapter was about the Biblical Bad Guys My Book of Revelations Soundtrack - Part 2 - The Biblical Bad Guys

Chapter Three

This guy needs no introduction.....

You all know him, but just to state the obvious this chapter will be devoted to him who goes by many names:
Lucifer, Satan, Morgenstern, Beelzebub, Lord Of The Underworld, The Fallen Angel, or probably best known as the Devil himself.

For me personally, I am not a Jesus Freak, but at the same time, I am not a closeted Satanist as well. I mean everyone deserves respect, Jesus for being the greatest magician of all time, and Lucifer for standing up against God and fighting for what he believed in.

The thing is that there are more Devilish Tales that I would love to write about, but this Sunday School Session will be dedicated to what was written about Lucifer in The Book of Revelations.

We touched upon Satan before in The Woman and the Dragon in my first chapter, where it was said that the dragon was the embodiment of Satan.

It was in Revelation 12 that a great red dragon tried to devour a woman's child but fails, the child being the Messiah.

Why Satan chose this shape is still not clear to me, but please don´t confuse Satan with The Beast I talked about in the second chapter, they are not the same. The Beast does Satan's bidding.

The Beast

Revelations does not speak about Satan in any other form than this Dragon but soon I will tell you about this guy called Ezekiel and he sent the better known story into this world.

Ezekiel 28:12-17

This is the story we all should know; about the rebellious Angel Samael standing up against God. He was the Angel of Beauty and Wisdom, but just like humans who think themselves wise and beautiful, he set himself up to trip over his pride and fall flat on his face. A very long fall from heaven into the bottomless pit of hell.

Now we all have this lovely mental picture of what the hell is supposed to look like and part is based on Dantes's Inferno but even Dante found his inspiration partially in Revelations.

Revelation 20:7-10:

After the battle, Satan falls from heaven into the lake of fire and sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet already are getting acquainted.

No wonder we associate hell and Satan with the smell of sulfur and that lake of fire.

But now I spoiled the story already because that Dear Reader is indeed how it ended.

The War In Heaven

So after the dragon was unable to devour the child, he took it upon himself to overthrow the reign in heaven. He and his Army of Angels.

Yes, those Angels I wrote about in last Week's Sunday School Session, those angels responsible for fathering the Nephilim.

The Nephilim

(My Musical Sunday School Sessions) - 𝕭𝖊𝖋𝖔𝖗𝖊 𝕴 𝕿𝖔𝖚𝖈𝖍 𝕿𝖍𝖊 𝕯𝖊𝖛𝖎𝖑

Now the exact reason for the war never became clear; although mankind likes to think it was because God liked Man better than he did his Angels. Which is so typical for humans to think like that.

I think it all comes down to a rebellious son who is kicked out of the house by his older brother as his father has become too weak to do so himself.

Revelation 12:7-9:

"And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him."

War in Heaven

Those angels became the watchers, and Satan ended up where you did not expect him.

According to Revelation 20:1-3 his Satanic Majestic was followed by an angel that binds him for a thousand years. During this period referred to as the "millennium" Satan is unable to deceive the nations.

Now I wonder if that was pre-Eden because I can not find any period in which mankind was free from deceit.

And as soon as those 1000 years had passed, Satan knew his time was short in the bigger scheme of things and it would take one final battle....

Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, holding in his hand the key to the bottomless pit and a great chain. And he seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years, and threw him into the pit, and shut it and sealed it over him, so that he might not deceive the nations any longer, until the thousand years were ended.

The End Boss Battle

Once Satan was free he would wreak havoc on the world, the darkest days would come in which mankind would wear the Mark of The Beast. That period is ongoing today while the righteous wait, and pray, that the end of time will come sooner rather than later.

Because only then:

"He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” (Revelation 21:4)

Bikini Bottom Line

This completes the third chapter of My Book of Revelations Soundtrack, and these were the chapters I felt were created by divine inspiration.
During this long journey through ancient Biblical texts, I found a lot more to share and to look upon with a modern pair of eyes. Reflect on the current state of the world and compare those ancient writings to what we know now.

I gave it a try last week with Sunday School Sessions and I think there is more where that came from, so if you´re as curious as I am. And if you enjoy these musical Sunday School sessions drop me a comment and keep your eyes out for the next one in which I will go deeper into Ezekiel's writings and his abduction.

Thank goodness you made it till the end Pees, Love and I am out of here!
