Midnight Gems - Your Free Mix-Tape Show - E 29 "Guess WHO´S B(L)ACK"

Every Day A Different Story (1).jpg

For those of you that are new to my MidNight Gems series. Welcome to this nightly trip on which we will uncover & recover some amazing songs & covers.

So Last week I went totally soft, so this week I am gonna be symphonic and loud

Remember last week it was raining awesome songs, I found another:

BRITNEY LAURINE CHRISTIAN - WHEN IT RAINS IT POURS

Not bad for Contemporary Christian Music, you see I don´t discriminate I don´t care if it´s inspired by one demon or the other.

Let it rain a bit more and a lot louder, tonight loud little me is back pouring dark disturbing songs out over you all. But before we get into the meat and potatoes of my show there is something about these ladies that is just so different, The good kind of different.

After playing a song from a savior I guess it´s time for a bit of sin.

The Last Dinner Party - Sinner (Live Performance)

Trying to postpone my headache set just a bit longer, building up the tension and the anticipation. And this little three-minute song just fits that mindset, again it has that je ne sais qua and enough of it to make me like it.

Maybe it´s the Black & White angels running around keeping stuff balanced.

Lexie Liu - MAGICIAN

I know she´s Chinese but if this is K-Pop I have to do a special on that because this doesn´t sound anything like that BTS BS.

Now if you call your band Wargasm you have me and if you then sound like a feminine version of The Prodigy I go Balls Balls Balls.

WARGASM - Do It So Good

Now last week we did the rain thingy and I planned the good guy's version of this song, but today we do the hurt your head version. No this is not a Rammstein Rip-Off, although the two do sound a little German.

LORD OF THE LOST feat. FORMALIN - Raining Stars

Have Mercy on Me, as we will go into the louder part of this Midnight Gems Session. Still, I will try to keep it decent, sticking to some middle-of-the-road new metal meets a bit of Sympho & Sytnth Wave metal. Remember these guys?

Detroit Run - Mercy

Really I don´t want to go all screamo on you but this type of music has so much. I hear some 80s messing with Linkin Park and adding those dark Birthday Massacre synths just makes it such a pleasure.

DROWN OUT - OBLIVION

So no screamo, just something that sounds like K´s Choice on steroids. I never heard this girl sing before but damn I am gonna listen to the rest

Ally Nicholas - Fall Into

This next one I had lying on the shelf for weeks, and listened to it every week. Loving the song but I knew it would not fit the session. It does tonight and it´s so damn damn good.

MONO INC. - Tired of the day

Call me Mr Bombastic, Mr Fantastic. I love this song. I love songs with an epic sound like that and I blame it all on growing up listening to Meatloaf´s Bat out of Hell.
There is some celestial feeling in those songs that pull up a wall of sound, and really it does not need to be metal, not even rock. Just check this out, Damn that Vid & Damn that voice.

Apashe - Revenge Of The Orchestra

Encore

But of course, an Orchestra with some symphonic metal influences is always a good thing and you can´t have too much of a good thing...can you?

Rhapsody & Christopher Lee - The Magic of the Wizard's Dream

Left Overs

This little dessert does not fit next week's session and as I want an empty shelf enjoy this leftover.

MOTHICA - CASUALTY

Riddle Me This

Guess What, My Riddle got solved by @ablaze (Again) of course it was all about Johnny Fiat.

What the fluff is Midnight Gems?

Somewhere lost in time, trying to escape out of the rabbit hole back into the rat race there is a vacuum..... that´s the place where midnight gems are found.

My Midnight Gems will try to uncover & recover those beautiful songs that nobody ever noticed or might have been forgotten.

Who the fluff am I?

Being a former DJ playing about everything and having an uncompleted study of radio journalism. I have been wanting to do this for years...Thought about it many nights and guess now it´s time to finally take it to the streets.

Hope you enjoyed this well-known wave of fantastic music and that you still feel like joining me on the next Midnight Gems Session coming soon.

I'm all set to go down the CCM rabbit hole with you if you want. Does that even still exist as a genre today? I listened to my fair share back in the day. Petra, Whiteheart, Whitecross, Barren Cross, Rez Band, Steve Taylor, Jars of Clay, Audio Adrenaline, Newsboys, DC Talk, Code of Ethics. All that good stuff!

DC Talk OMG loved that!
And indeed there are a couple more you call out I surely love to play.
As said I love black & white because in the end the world is a big grey zone!

I've been waiting for the right time to do a CCM TTT. It might happen sooner rather than later now!
