Beyond The Looking Glass is the second book in the Unseen series, a story that came to me from the other side. A story where I thought I was just the narrator until I heard the Words of the Unseen.
This second story goes beyond time and place and mixes the long ago with the here and now. Because history keeps repeating, until we learn and do something about it.

Beyond The Looking Glass - Words of the Unseen - Chapter 98

"Can you explain to me what happened?"
"Not really," I donยดt know what else to say.
"I don't understand much of what happened. I can explain what I know. That I chatted for months with a very sweet girl. That I went to the Netherlands to get to visit and know her. That I verified that she was indeed 18 and therefore an adult. That I spent hours with her in a hotel room on that first trip, and that we didn't have sex."
I pause for a moment, "But what happened next I can't explain or even describe. Ever since we decided to move in together and I picked her up it seems like a really bad movie."
"You know, I'm just a normal guy, I rent a house and have a job. Yes, I'm older than she is, but we both don't have a problem with that. And yes, she wanted to get away from her mother, and moving to Spain allowed her to do so, so she did."
"I have asked her several times to discuss this with her mother. She clearly had her reasons for not doing this. And I am not one who will force her to do it against her will."
I pause again and study the face of the man across from me. He is a typical fifty-something who probably likes to play golf in his spare time. But his face remains neutral so far.
"Maybe I should have given it more weight in retrospect, but it remains her decision. And now that the Spanish police have been at my work, I have been pulled out of my house and spent days among Spanish prisoners waiting to be extradited to the Netherlands. Only then to hear clearly what I am suspected of, no I cannot explain that."
Now I see something on his face, "Yes, you have been through something the past few days. I understand that, but this is no small matter either."
I nod, "I understand that too, but I'm a father. I have a job, and then I'm suddenly suspected of penetrating an incapacitated person. I'm sorry, but nothing in all those months has given me the feeling that Yallenix came anywhere near that characterization."
The man scans the paper in front of him, "You have indicated that you want to continue the relationship, you show no remorse for your actions."
I get a punch in the stomach, my eyes focus on the tabletop... that student bitch shoots through my head.
"That's not what I said, and I don't understand why it's written like that. I don't know if it helps, but what I have indicated is that I am in love with this young woman and that if it is allowed I would indeed like to continue the relationship because I don't feel like we have done anything wrong."
This started out so well, but that twisting of my words could just cost me my head, could easily get me locked up again.
The examining magistrate scans the rest of the papers, then he looks at me very directly. His eyes have gone from unreadable to slightly friendly and I don't quite understand why.
"Mr. Hildebrandt, appearances are rather against you."
Another punch in the stomach, that saying literally means that someone wants to talk themselves clean.
But it is also used when circumstances point in a different direction than the direction that the person in question indicates.
"I will take into account that you have a job and have never been convicted of anything before."
He looks at me, he has got guts because he looks me straight in the eye. "Taking all things into account, yes you can go back to Spain pending the investigation. But you are not allowed to leave the country and under no circumstances contact or come near Yallenix."
I feel a ton of bricks dropping from my stomach to the floor and I must have the stupidest of grins on my face.
"If you agree to those conditions you can go back wait to work and await the further outcome in Spain."
