Beyond The Looking Glass is the second book in the Unseen series, a story that came to me from the other side. A story where I thought I was just the narrator until I heard the Words of the Unseen.

This second story goes beyond time and place and mixes the long ago with the here and now. Because history keeps repeating, until we learn and do something about it.

Beyond The Looking Glass - Words of the Unseen - Chapter 57

Dear Reader, how many surprises does life hold for us?

Is the supply never-ending or does there come a day when you think nice, but I have seen it all before?

There have been so many already, and often I think it does not get crazier than this.

Sometimes I am right, temporarily right. Because just when you think you have seen it all there is an elephant in a bikini hiding behind the corner ready to say "Booo."

The worst part would be that if that elephant did not end your life, you knew an even bigger surprise could be awaiting you around every next corner.

You don't see me do you

"Ugh, ugh," is what I hear next to me.

"Papa Tijnie loves the green leaves just as much as I love chocolate," says a cheerful little voice beside me.

"I? had to come She said because Claudia has to sleep. But I didn't really want to come. I was playing at my friend America's and I had just told her about Papa Tijnie."

I can't help it, the little voice and the choice of words, I have to laugh.

"Your friend America," I repeat.

"Yes, she also goes to She's school, but she's not a human or a ghost. She is very funny because she doesn't always know how things work in this human world. She knows a lot but not from here."

The laughter has made way for amazement once again, "What does America look like when she's not from here?"

I think I know the answer, but this game is getting to me a bit so I just play along.

"Like three balls of light that can move very quickly," without even a second of thought or hesitation the words come. "But she's very sweet, is there any chocolate left?"

With the chocolate still on her lips she falls asleep against me.

Welcome to the madhouse I think to myself, this doesn't seem like a game anymore, but what then?

I put on my shoes and my coat and go out into the street, the bleak morning cold has not yet disappeared and hits me in the face.

As if I wasn't awake yet I am now, and the fog in my head clears, my brain finally feels sharp again.

When I walk into the library I am aware that I have lost whole parts of the previous night's events, and that I can recall some details but only few. It's as if I read the book many years ago, while it all just happened.

This morning it felt like I could still get to it, now I know that certain memories have completely disappeared. They have been woven into the story and lost their detail.

I look for some books about schizophrenia and multiple personalities. There must be a rational explanation for what is happening here. I quickly realize one thing, it is not schizophrenia.

But multiple personality disorder could very well be, caused by severe trauma. The fact that they know each other, communicate internally, and even exclude a personality are all documented and would explain what I have experienced the past few days.

I breathe a sigh of relief, I am not crazy but maybe she is.

How is it possible that no one knows this?

Bas must at least have a suspicion.
How do you keep something like that hidden for so long?
Or maybe the thing is that it is not long at all, could it be that she has only recently cracked? That something just pushed her over, drugs can do that it says in the book.

Maybe the cracks were always there but that recently something has split her.

The little one is a logical split, and America is an imaginary friend from her youth, perhaps? That would explain all that craziness.

But could She be the protector I read about?
The one who absorbs the blows so that the core can preserve what is left of her sanity?

I still assume that Claudia is the core entity, but I doubt that now.

The books explain a lot, but how do I tell this to the woman I love?

I don't have to tell her anything because when I come home, Claudia is gone.

No note, nothing, and since I only have her sister's number, I have no idea where she is or when she will be back.

How can I want her so much, and why do I always feel like I have no control over this situation?
Not when I was cycling around like a headless chicken just to see her somewhere, and not now that she is my wife, or should be.

I realize that I have no hold on her

I step into the dirty shower of this student's house realizing I have no hold on her at all. But there is a positive, the warm water has a soothing effect, and some of the discomfort I was carrying washes away.

A joint and some music do the rest, I get up and slowly wander to the supermarket to pick up some lunch for work....just another day in lala land I tell myself.
