Beyond The Looking Glass is the second book in the Unseen series, a story that came to me from the other side. A story where I thought I was just the narrator until I heard the Words of the Unseen.

This second story goes beyond time and place and mixes the long ago with the here and now. Because history keeps repeating, until we learn and do something about it.

Dear Reader, sometimes life throws you lemons and other times strawberries.

Although I think that it prefers lemons over strawberries, sometimes you are pleasantly surprised.

Surprises like happiness come in many different shapes and sizes, some very unexpected ones I might say.

The more unexpected the bigger the surprise.

But what if that seemingly strawberry surprise unexèctedly turns into a sour lemon sensation?

During dinner, Sei could not stay away from me, I tried to control myself but I have to admit that I got the right jitters from this oh-so-young lady by my side. As a bunch of teenagers loving, which by the way was 50% true, we sat at the table with the empress and her prince.

After the last few days, Numico's family still had many questions, and the fact that his mother constantly frolicked around him and made it clear that she already had trouble with their upcoming departure.

If there had been nothing growing within that womb of Sion, they probably could have stayed longer, but this was a journey that they had to complete now. Because in the coming years, it will be impossible to travel this long.

The imperial couple cannot travel both when there is only one descendant. There must be at least a second in the line if they want to travel together.
Bringing their child on such a long and possibly dangerous journey is also not an option, and I see that Sion already has trouble with all the hormonal changes, although they should stabilize over the coming months.

Then Numico gets up.

"Mom, dad, brothers, sisters, friends. I have already personally explained to most of you why I left here not so quietly. I know my good friend Martio did his best to explain it to you, and therefore I will no longer talk about it anymore. "

I see Numico almost splutter with laughter at his own joke, really teenagers.

"Finally I am back, and I am now the husband of your empress and I don´t think that owes any explanation." He tries to stand stately and sound, and he almost succeeds.

"When I left, you probably didn't expect that I would return as her impresses man, maybe some of you hoped that I would never return because what do you have to do with such a dreamer? Yet I am here again, and I am just glad to be here as I missed you all. I know that our worlds are far apart, but I hope to be able to put my arms around you all once more during this lifetime as I did today."

"Tomorrow we will leave again, and this afternoon I visited the council," his tone is suddenly very serious. "There is something, or rather someone in this village who has become very important to me in a very short time."

Numico takes his glass and I only now see that he drinks rice wine for the first time since I know him. That was long overdue, the boy is almost a father.

"Fortunately, that person is with us tonight, and I can't catch in words how happy that makes me. Martio was my teacher, he was the one I followed till we met with the boss of the world. He most precious to me and he became my best friend. A friend I had to let go again because as I knew he is needed here. Martio friend I missed you, but I was not referring to you."

The buzz suddenly, Numico must have expected this because he gratefully makes use of it.

"Thank you all for this moment of silence- I have something to confess. This afternoon I did something that I truly don't like doing. Or rather, I was planning to do something. I was at the council and I wanted to ask them if they would like to accept the will of their Empress and Her prince, which means as much as they had no choice. "
The whole table laughs, except Sei and I.

"But that is not my style and so I honestly ask them the following; what if Martio will have the age of Oniko, and he will put Sei forward to be his successor? Sei is not of our tribe, and the council exists, it may be unintentionally, mainly out of men at the moment.

"Why do I specifically ask about Sei? That is not because I know that Sei and Martio have entered into the commitment since last night." Now nobody laughs, total silence.

This silent dreamer boy has come a very long way in a not-so-long time, putting his best friend in the spotlight and I know it´s not only to tease me, he has a plan.

"Martio," says Numico so friendly and yet compelling.

I quickly search for words to counter this tease, but then I decide to do something that is against my nature and I go with the flow.
