Beyond The Looking Glass is the second book in the Unseen series, a story that came to me from the other side. A story where I thought I was just the narrator until I heard the Words of the Unseen.

This second story goes beyond time and place and mixes the long ago with the here and now. Because history keeps repeating, until we learn and do something about it.

Beyond The Looking Glass - Words of the Unseen - Chapter 173

Dear Reader, after living in my head for years, it´s time to practice what I want to preach.

Have faith in the words of the Unseen.

Let them guide me, not a blind sheep, but by digesting what I hear and applying it to what I know.

Don´t let yourself be led by any other prophets than yourself, but take kindly to the words of strangers and the voices in your head.

Those are the signs the cosmos can give, and you should only be opening up enough to receive and recognize.

The car wound north from Granada, engine humming low, the white lines of the highway pulling them forward like a spell.

She kept both hands on the wheel, steady, her eyes fixed on the road as if she could read what lies ahead . I rode shotgun, as always.

"Once I buy Avalon, then I will get my license." How often have I said that lately? My elbow against the window, I am watching the still fascinating landscape slip by, olive groves, ochre hills, stretches of sky that seemed to have no end.

Every so often, she changed gears, we were more silent than usual. Not that anyone else would notice, but I did. Part of us had an eye on the horizon, not just because of the drive.

The late sun painted her arms gold, her hair loose, strands of it catching the air from the ventilator. Summer had already gone, but the temperatures were still high.

I am taking everything and opened my mouth to tell her about the beauty of the moment, the road, and about how this car was now our bubble, but instead I stayed quiet.

As we climbed north, the air changed. The sharp scent of pine cut through the dry heat, and as the kilometers fell away, the landscape shifted.

The sharp peaks of Valencia gave way to the shimmer of the coast, and the faint salt of the sea drifted in. She leaned forward slightly when the first sign for Alcossebre appeared, letters simple and ordinary, yet they struck him like an omen.

The late afternoon and small road allowed us to drive with the windows open as the village unfolded slowly. Typical is the first word that comes to my mind as I watch the narrow streets lined with whitewashed houses, balconies tangled with bougainvillea, and children’s voices echoing faintly through our open windows.

Beyond it is what really takes my eye. The Sierra de Irta rises, rugged and green, stretching out and bending into the Mediterranean. As we drove up here, I saw many parts unspoiled by modern life. It almost feels like I am watching scenes from a movie.

Luzbella pulled over near a stone wall where the road broke into a trail. The engine ticked as it cooled, and for a moment she stayed still, her hands resting on the wheel as if she were reluctant to let go.

I watch, then look up at the mountain, before I gaze at the sea.

My mind is not as still as we are; it´s pondering a question I carried for a long time. What would finding Avalon feel like?

This place that I have searched for without knowing the map?

Could it be this feeling, this place? I actually had no expectations as I took the advice and just: Go, Go, Go.
I went to finally get the real-life search started.

Trusted that I was reading the signs right, and that was more important than checking out the scenery online. Secretly, I was kinda impressed with where we ended up.

"Montañas y Mar," mountains and sea. Mountains for me, and the sea for Bella. I did not think about that at all when I prompted chat, well, a little, but not like this.

Or is this only the spell of arriving after the journey? Us unwinding after a too-long ride? The beauty of us reconnecting, expanding our bubble to the world outside the car?

Right, get outside the car, I think, as she already stepped out and is walking up the trail a little, just to get a better view of the sea breaking gently against the rocks below.

The mountain looming above, all so peaceful, but I feel restless, my chest filled with a mix of doubt and hope.

Then I hear them, sharp and soft: Avalon is not a place you drive to. It is a place that arrives within you when you are ready, and manifests outside of you when it wants to be found.

I follow her up the trail, unsure what to think. What should I expect?
What would it mean if I hear the call? Does that mean I am ready, that Avalon has arrived in me? Or am I still an apprentice?

I know so much more now than when I started, but I also realize that I know so very little.

Quoteἓν οἶδα ὅτι οὐδὲν οἶδα(Hen oida hoti ouden oida)

Quote“I know one thing: that I know nothing.”

It’s often shortened to: “I know that I know nothing.”

And I know I had to go, and I also know that I am no longer going by myself. It takes two to find Avalon: "One with the map, and the other with the eyes to see.”

That old lesson just boomeranged back in my brain. It is not Greek, it´s is mine:
“Two must seek to truly find: one carries the map, the other the vision.”

One brings knowledge or direction, and the other brings awareness, intuition, or presence. Together, discovery happens.
