Chapter 135

This is the end, my only friend.....

Oh never mind.

What are you left with? Who are you then?

Sentimental stuff, while we all know that if this is a commercial success there will almost certainly be a sequel. So let us not speak in endings and farewells.

Dear Reader, I am very curious about how you experienced our trip, and whether I am good enough company to travel with you again.

Because. where one book closes, another opens.

Epilogue

Sion had not been idle for the past seven months.

Immediately after we knew she was in no danger, she started a journey through her kingdom.

All provinces and rural areas were visited. We soon became skilled in finding pockets of resistance, no matter how small.

We built a network and kept in touch with all of them, everywhere she went the resistance grew steadily and at first silently.

Although over time the rumors grew stronger that a conflict had broken out. That people could support the heir to the throne if they wanted to express their dissatisfaction.

This did not happen publicly, although that was not always possible. Some were so full of their antipathy towards the current government that they openly expressed their support for the mother of Sion. In whose name we did all this, also to prevent the princess's name from being heard in the council.

The rural areas appeared to have been filled with dissatisfied citizens for years, who were never heard by the elite in the cities.

But we also found more sympathizers in the cities than we expected. We had planned to quietly build out the network and grow it until Sion reached seventeen summers.

That soon became impossible due to the unexpectedly large group of supporters we found on our path. It would become impossible to keep silent and the way this resistance grew there was a need for a quick change, otherwise it seemed to become a lengthy and especially bloody era.

Yet we should respect the laws, because even a Sikh has to obey laws. Equal to the people they serve.

After months of wandering, our network was complete and many times larger than we had dared to dream. The death of the Sikh and Krya's words made people think. We heard from the palace that the council had gotten wind of the impending battle and wanted to prevent it by getting rid of the heir to the throne, for better or for worse.

Their wish, their ego, and vanity were blinding and we had to take advantage of it.

Ultimately, each and every one of them entered the trap with eager eyes and, at that last moment of their lives, they were amazed that here they found not the promised power and wealth, but their end.

Well in advance, Sion had appointed an advisor from each major pocket of resistance, so that it also considered the support of a council necessary.

The big difference was that this council represented the country and each member represented a province.

They had to issue advice and pass legislation for the benefit of their own area. The army would be under the command of one man, the Rech Mana. Dadrie would take on this role as soon as he no longer had to govern. Then and only then the title would be installed.

The intention was for networks to be created and maintained across all levels of society. This would ensure unity and ensure that everyone's wishes were heard by the council. The council would make a tour twice a year, like the one Sion had made, to ensure that all the wishes of the people reached their ears.

The new power would crystallize in the future and continue to be based on Krya's wishes. Prosperity for all, through everyone's involvement. The involvement would arise from the knowledge that offering help is the most fulfilling factor in life, next to loving and being loved. The revolutions would be slowly implemented in peace and quiet and could count on understanding and support from all levels of society. population.

Those who disagreed with the course of events also had the right to make their voices heard and they were listened to. So that they also felt valued, even though they regularly got the short end of the stick, their ideas and advice were always taken into consideration. Even performed occasionally. The dissatisfaction they had in the beginning quietly melted away, as they were now heard more than before.

I left the political scene soon after the inauguration of Sion and Numico, which fell on the first day of their seventeenth summer.

For a long time, I had known my place was not here, I still dreamed of returning to my mountain, my village near the volcano where life would always feel fairer and more sincere than in that special city.

It was not an easy choice, but every test will be more challenging than the next one. Knowing that I wondered what would come next.
I had to let go of so many things already, but then I realized I found even more than I had let go of.

I started my return journey on horseback, sad for the people I left behind, but certain that it was not my place on earth.

It was their place, their lives in which Cabilah had found Kreytu, I knew that Numico would be forever at his Sion´s side and Dadrie, well let´s say he had his hands full.

I love this story where the rulership has the people in mind, where they work for their prosperity rather than being so self-centered. This is what true leadership entails and I know that as Sion and his cabinet continue in Kyra's blueprints, everyone would be happy.
