Beyond Doubt: Whispers of the Unseen - Chapter 106
Welcome to my seemingly endless journey.
A trip that will take you to places I might have visited many moons ago.
It´s a tale that came back to me when I meditated on one of my past lives. A life I told you about in my unbelievable true story.
As promised in that story I will now share this story with you.
Chapter 106
One look into her eyes, I was immediately lost, it couldn't have been any different, I didn't want to hear anything else.*
We spent the entire afternoon walking, and luckily, it weren't just my feet that hurt. Apparently, the dancing and partying have been harder than I expected. Cabilah and Kreytu also complain of sore feet, and so we decide to rest under the trees on the other side of the palace.
Despite its magisterial construction, the building seems lifeless; no one moves in the garden or on the landings. No one comes in or goes out. The idea of spending your life in there, isolated from everything and everyone, makes me understand how this man could have conceived the idea of being the ruler of the world.
The emptiness of his life would lead to the need for immense fulfillment. Yet, it would be important that Numico makes him see what that world really is, that it cannot be controlled. To rule means to care for all living things, instead of destroying them. That true greatness comes from mercy as opposed to harshness.
We have to get out of town before dark, which doesn't give us much time. Soon we will go to our lodgings, saddle the horses, and leave. It will be a long time before we get that close again. I can see the building, and touch its walls, but I feel further away than ever. Only now do I realize that reaching the city was just the next step, not the end. But it doesn't bother me. I can rest in the fact that we have taken another step forward. Still with my head held high, still with the goal in mind.
We leave, and the palace remains where it is, our horses now saddled. We are ready to go. We make our way through the narrow streets and look down at the crowds of people slithering like a snake through the city. Somehow, I am glad to leave that hustle and bustle behind me because it offers no depth, only haste, and superficiality. While so many people together possess so much wisdom and knowledge, no one feels the need to share or become a participant, at least not without profit.
We almost reach the main street, but a huge traffic jam blocks the way. Fortunately, sitting on the horses, we tower above the people, so we have a good view of what is going on. Even though it is unclear at first, a large group of soldiers on horseback comes riding down the main street at a very slow pace and in rows of four. After the second group has passed, I can see over the next two groups a carriage with soldiers on both sides, followed by a smaller carriage also surrounded by soldiers. It looks like we ended up in the middle of a military parade.
As I turn to ask Dadrie or Kreytu for an explanation, I see Kreytu raise his hands to the heavens, while Dadrie laughs heartily. Kreytu keeps his eyes on the sky for a long time, shaking his head in disbelief.
“It's unbelievable,” he stammers. "Unbelievable." It might noy take Cabilah that much effort to convince him of some other things as of now.
It is clear to me; this military parade is not random. It is the manifestation of our energy, of our visualization, of our desire. We carefully move to the edge of the crowd to get the best possible view of what is to come. It briefly crosses my mind to immediately spur my horse and try to reach the carriage from my horse. But the sight of only a small portion of the military here makes this idea one of the worst I've ever had.
“We are going to see the Sikh, we are going to meet him, have faith,” I whisper more to myself than to the rest. There we stand, five riders among the crowd of city people, who also like to glance at the Sikh.
From the commotion, I gather that this only happens once in a while. It is to show the people that the Sikh's family and he himself are still in divine health. That he has every power to govern this country. That he and he alone are responsible for the state of affairs in the empire and in the world. Obviously, the man spends so little time in public that people sometimes doubt whether he is still alive.
The moment has arrived, the carriage just meters away from us. The Sikh wears a blazing white suit trimmed all over with gold pieces. He sits bolt upright, his hand on the hilt of his sword. His other hand is on his lap. His deep eyes stare straight ahead, but every now and then, he looks carefully to the side, without moving his head.
I see his eyes; they seem to rest on us for a moment. Is it my imagination or are they watching us longer than normal? It seems so; it even seems as if the man is startled by something because he immediately turns his gaze forward again.
