π»πππππ π»π πΉπππππππ π»ππ 90π - Snotty Beanie Babies in A Blur of Suede & Dying Tamagotchis
Thank God ItΒ΄s #NinetiesFriday!
Last week I told you about that band I loved in the nineties, but have never played since.
Now that band was Soul Asylum and The Black Crows.
But there were so many other things I forgot about the Β΄90s like there were Beanie Babies. If you don't remember go ahead and ask the Big G (Google ofc).
Or watch this poo:
So what did we all love and nowadays not dare to even touch anymore except for Beanie Babys?
Ehh what was the last time you touched a floppy disc....or worse inserted into your Personal Computer....because back then Computers were personal....now your PC is a thing that sits on top of your lap or desk.
Oh, this is another one we do no longer do because we are afraid to get canceled. We loved incorrect politicness in the 90s because it was so naughty.
We knew it was bad for us but we did it anyway because we did not have a politically completely correct World Wide Web waiting to cancel us.
One more forgotten thingy, do you remember slap bracelets, and how we tried to slap 99 ways but the Bitch ainΒ΄t got slapped.
Last but certainly not least who of you with half a mind remembers the Britt Pop Invasion in the Β΄90s
Britt Pop Β΄90s
Oh My Goodness, if I am honest I probably take Britt Pop over Grunge.
And that is not because of Oasis. They can stick their Champagne Super Novan behind their Wonderwallpaper.
But Blur already made things better:
Boys, Girls, and Parklife I loved it just like I loved the Gorillaz later on in life. But that Clint Eastwood song was 2001.
Now what was that other funk band that sounded like BLUR...superthingy that was it don't walk on the syperthingy but smoke the superthingy.
One of my favorite Britt Pop bands was The Verve.
Verving the Festival
Yes, you all know them from this song:
I love that way of walking, I loved it so much we did the same thing on Lowlands Festival. We would go Verving, just keep your eyes on the horizon back straight and keep walking that straight line as long as possible...or until you walk into someone even cooler than you, which of course did not happen.
But they had a couple of songs I liked even better that hit song:
Of course, it was about the drugs but this next song was about my order love, even back then...
I loved writing back then and it only got worse, I mean back then I did not write daily. I was not working on my 2nd novel and I did not have multiple short stories under my belt.... but I did write sonnets or tried to.
Back To The Crows
Like I told you last week those Black Crows got ruined by my best friend at that time thinking his master's voice was God's gift to music.
But he also had a good side, the fact that he could not come close to the voice of Brett Anderson, and therefore never tried.
No bells ringing, that is the singer from Suede, for some peeps at the other side of the ocean The London Suede.
Some Nineties Things That Are Still Cool
Trust me there are some things from the Β΄90s we still use ....like ehh
like ehh ...
Red bull and the internet.
And Suede....
WTF Nobody uses Suede!
Ehh yes, they do, or is it really just me?
Full Disclosure I am hetero AF and not even proud of it, I just am but I will admit 30 years later that if I needed to pick a boy to spend the night with....it would be Brett.
Or how about this one, so glad my friend did not even try to sing like this, because he would have ruined one of my favorite bands ever.
Come on that androgyny style, like a true '90s Bowie and no he wasnΒ΄t gay not even Bi as it were the nineties we did not do all the he said she said him said BS.
He dated this gorgeous chick:
But she dated more guys she even did Guy Ritchie before Madonna did.
But she also did Damon from Blur and seemingly had some close encounters with that Creep Thom York.
Sounds to me that everyone did it with everyone back then and hell I know I did....but donΒ΄t try that at home kids and if you do wear a condom.
Anyway Back to Suede
And when I finally wanted to go and see them live, saved up enough money to buy a ticket... they broke up.
And I, I started following everything Brett did, now my almost sociopathic ex-wife asked me if he was my boy crush but I donΒ΄t think so I never thought about him naked, it was more that I really liked his style and maybe wanted to be like him but did not have the balls...or have too much balls.
Anyway, I got lucky around 2010 they got back together and I finally got to see them in concert.
Yes, I was front row, my wife was there and my 6 year old boy was there too but they came for Placebo. Also cool, also nineties, also gay. Oh no Brett did that Elastica lady.
Bikini Bottom Line
They didnΒ΄t give a flying F about Suede and left me there... where you might ask well right in front of Brett when he sits down around 1:10
I could almost touch him, and it was so cool to be so close to one of the truly wild ones of my nineties.
So cool, so close, and yes he did it. Or rather I did, just when he left the stage he did a quick run by the first row and I was able to touch him.
Now I have been close to several artists of which I admired some, and still, this is a memory bigger than arguing with the drummer of Motorhead or spending a rainy Sunday afternoon drinking with the boys from Bullets for My Valentine so not a boy crush but.... definitely a little moment. But I never thought of the Two of Us, as in Brett and I although it is probably still my favorite Suede song,
But when they got back they brought me a T-Shirt, a Suede shirt, not from the store but from the sound engineer. This proves she was a sociopath btw because only crazy people can pull this off.
She got in the tower with my 6-year-old son next to Suede's sound engineer and they had a fun talk (that is what she said). At some point, she mentioned I was such a fan and from somewhere he got her a T-shirt from the Suede 2011 Tour. He told her that that shirt had been on the tour bus with the band.
So there are benefits to having a psycho girlfriend, although they do not outweigh....well that is a different story.
One more thing I want to forget
IsnΒ΄t strange that you forget so much, that we have such a hard time remembering those nineties thingies except for the things we would like to forget?
Those stick to the brain like snot.
But please if there is a Lord never bring this back into fashion.
Thank goodness you made it till the end Pees, Love and I am out of here!

WTF do I do on #NinetiesFriday?
Well, don't do what I do because I just stole the below as it is good enough for copy/pasta!
But some ideas are music, movies, television, sports, or really anything Nineties related.
I assume movie, tv, or music topic reviews or talk will be most common, but you could also talk about a sports memory or something else.
Think the Pop Culture of the times, but it would be great to hear about little known and interesting bands or entertainment items. Donβt forget to use tag #NinetiesFriday
@geneeverett will give 3 basic income units to a winning random post every week that uses the #NinetiesFriday tag. Also @thebighigg has jumped in to match for 6 total weekly prizes! If anyone else wants to sponsor with 1 unit let me know or just send if you donβt wanna commit to weekly π
All images by MyI and AI except for the stolen #NinetiesFriday image of course.

It's a good reminder the great things happened in the 1990s.π
The more I dive into it the more I remember in a couple of posts I will remember all those years I thought I lost
1990s people experienced the big changes in the world.π
Nice work! So much great 90's stuff in there!
I cant remember how much I forgot but this is getting me there!
Damn, where so I start!? I loved the Black Crowes back then so I'll have to go visit that post next. For this post I'll say I DO remember Beanie Babies, in fact, I was just visiting my folks in Arizona and my dad pulled out his collection. That's right, he would bring them home after work and say, I bought the new one for your mom."
PS: My mom didn't care about them, they were for him xD
Anyhow, here's a snap from a few weeks ago...
My pop was sure they were worth big bucks, then I showed him his beanies selling on ebay for $1-$5 and he was nearly in shock. He said, "I paid $80 for that one."
Haaahahah, tamagouchi, I remember those but was too old to actually have had one or known anyone with one.
Nice post, fun!
!PIMP
You must be killin' it out here!
@summertooth just slapped you with 10.000 PIMP, @whywhy.
You earned 10.000 PIMP for the strong hand.
They're getting a workout and slapped 3/4 possible people today.
Read about some PIMP Shit or Look for the PIMP District
That must have been such a disappointment, they were sold as collectibles so one would expect after all this time to hold some Beanie value !LOLZ Love the snap & comment thanks!

Yeah, he went from talking about all the money to complete disbelief. "But, I paid $100 for those three!?"
It was fine, after a few minutes to process he started sorting them and naming the person he was going to give it to. "This one is perfect for John..."
xD
