Thank God ItΒ΄s #NinetiesFriday!
Last week I went back home, back to the scene of the crime, the place I grew up. I expected more memories to surface, but memories are like a box of chocolates.
This week I will try and time travel Back To The 2nd Part of the Nineties.
Where Is My Post 1995 Mind
Like I wrote last week, my nineties were split into two phases post and past Β΄95.
Last week I did my best to remember how those first years were for me.
Being in high school, smoking my first bit of weed, and slowly being dragged or maybe dragging myself into the Alto/Stoner lifestyle & still being popular.
Somehow I managed to get out of school successfully, well after changing schools because I borrowed a bike that was not mine. Why, because they trashed my bike as I was having a fling with a girl that was in high demand, to put it mildly.
Anyway I was done living at home at 13 and when I turned 18 and finished school I could finally leave.
I wanted to be a lawyer growing up, I probably would have made a great one but when I heard what University poo you needed to complete to finally tell lies to the world I changed my mind.
Over time I figured out I enjoyed writing and as there was no writing school I decided to become a journalist.
That allowed me to study in a different city, no way I could stay and so as of 1995 I lived away from home in the beautiful city of Tilburg.
The city that is most famous for its Kermis:
But the best place to be was Noorderligt, I was too late to catch these guys but WoW:
I did see Radiohead there and but the best show I saw there was Therapy?
I still remember losing my shoe in the moshpit and being able to pick it up again as it was going nowhere.
And back then things were still affordable because there was no Euro, we paid with our national currency the Gulden, but you want to call it Guilder.
How rich would we be if we would never join that Euro scam???
I moved out, and was a little bit lost in a big city.
With little money to spend, still I had some good times with Yvon, and squirting Meg.
1995 was the start of a new life. I was finally living on my own!
I felt all grown up and even started living together for the first time, well we both rented a room in the same house. Looking back that was not the best idea. Those days should not be used to play grown up, so boring as I found out that first year.
It did allow me to work in a Coffeeshop as she and I shared all the weekdays. She left I stayed and had high times, never a dull moment but never any aggression in all those years.
That changed, as that place has been targeted 8 times in the last couple of years:
That escalated slowly. Noorderligt no longer there, Coffeeshop Caza Closed. Me living in Spain.
Looking back it felt like nothing special back then but when I was back there last week. Just for a day, I felt that familiar feeling. This city was my home. If I ever need to go back, I will be back to Tilburg.
Well for now I will shut up about it because there are more interesting things to share like this one.
Do you remember this? I did not, but music festivals and sports events still had huge banners next to the stage advertising tobacco???
I really forgot all about that, what I did remember was that in my student room, one thing was important my Minitower / two huge ass speakers:
Thank goodness you made it till the end Pees, Love and I am out of here!

WTF do I do on #NinetiesFriday?
Well, don't do what I do because I just stole the below as it is good enough for copy/pasta!
But some ideas are music, movies, television, sports, or really anything Nineties related.
I assume movie, tv, or music topic reviews or talk will be most common, but you could also talk about a sports memory or something else.
Think the Pop Culture of the times, but it would be great to hear about little known and interesting bands or entertainment items. Donβt forget to use tag #NinetiesFriday
@geneeverett will give 3 basic income units to a winning random post every week that uses the #NinetiesFriday tag. Also @thebighigg has jumped in to match for 6 total weekly prizes! If anyone else wants to sponsor with 1 unit let me know or just send if you donβt wanna commit to weekly π

Love me some Nada Surf! I really love the follow up album to the first that had Popular on it! (1998βs The Proximity Effect ) It didnβt have the play the Popular record got in the mainstream but itβs a hidden nineties gem!
You must be killin' it out here!

You earned 5.000 PIMP for the strong hand.
They're getting a workout and slapped 2/2 possible people today.
Read about some PIMP Shit or Look for the PIMP District
I know I have seen them Live but as I can't remember anything about it, it probably wasn't that great a gig π
Nice! Haven't heard Nada Surf in years! Hard to believe it's been almost 30 years since '95!
I still remember Europe pre Euro era, I preferred it. Spain and Italy were very inexpensive to visit, post Euro they became expensive.
Tobacco banners, big tobacco loved to push their product. I have a Joe Camel silver round, I only picked it up because it was weird, and never been a smoker.
Great post!
Everything got so expensive post Euro but that's what all the not so old people say.
But those banners, I was a smoker back then I did not notice them then as I do now !LOLZ
