The Power of Drawing and The Rainy Season
Today, I felt like drawing some cute situations with stick figures, to revive my inner child.
One has to do with skiing, the other with swimming.
You guess which one is which ;^)
Then I drew some dwarves in a sideways world, fighting gravity, 24/7
Who am I kidding, I have spent the last week and a half with my 7 year old niece and 9 year old nephew. I can hardly find the time/ focus or energy to blog. At the end of the day, after they are in bed, I feel like doing the same.
So, today, I felt like sharing some cute and colorful drawings that my niece has made in the last couple of days.
I think they are awesome and am happy that ( my twin sister, her mother and ) I have been able to ingrain a love for drawing, in both her and her brother. I might share some drawings of my nephew in a future blog post.
Meanwhile, the rain just keeps falling outside, as if we're in some kind of Rainy Season, here in central Portugal.
And that after reaching 30 to 35 Celsius in the first half of October.
All in all, I was reminded of this album, by an artist that my father liked a lot ( and I myself too ), Marc Cohn:
The first song makes me pretty nostalgic. I've listened to this album so many times ( with my dad ). Whenever I put on music in their house, picking a CD from my dad's huge collection, there was a chance I selected this album.
Wherever you are, dad, I hope you're listening ;<)
Gonna end it here, as I hear my niece and nephew fighting, while playing Mario on the Nintendo Switch. It's hard for them to co-operate and treat each other as friends, they are brother and sister, after all ;<)
Have a great day, wherever you are!
I am about to play some Mario Kart with my two favorite monsters...
I love drawing with kids. They are unfettered by habit or structure and just so as they please. It's so much fun!
You get it, buddy! Especially with me as a teacher ;<)
Hahaha nice! Enjoy the family time for a good one. And although rainy season sucks big time...Nothing better to do than spend it with the small ones there.
Fijne zondag!
You are really a talented drawer. The drawing looks great
Haha! They are made by my 7 year old niece, not by the 7x6 ( 42 ) year old me.
Glad you like them though!
The drawings are colorful, although you'd know they're done by creative kids. It's good to have them express their creativity.
It's bizarre that it's still raining despite the fact that it's almost November. Although it's still seriously raining here.
Rain usually starts in November here. It came a little early, this year.
It's Autumn here, the time of the year where the temperature tends to drop and the drought of the Spring and Summer is over.
And yes, they are creative kids, partially due to having me as an example.
Sending a hug!
Your niece has made some colorful drawings and she did very well
She can also do better
Thank you. There's always room for growth ;<)
It is so nice that you are spending time with your niece and nephew - you will find your inner child just by doing that. Your niece's drawings are very nice. Funny that in the first photo the people are hanging from the ski lifts. 😀
I can understand that you are exhausted at the end of the day - I know exactly how that feels with children.
Great that the rain is cooling things down - I guess it is now rainy season in Europe. Enjoy the rain and time with the kids.
Nice song from Marc Cohn.
These drawings are adorable 😍. And the music is another beautiful addition to it.
Thank you! Glad you liked both :<)
You are welcome 😊.

Those drawings have many details that keep the reader focus on the illustration.
Thank you for sharing
Mario Kart is the best
Have fun on the circuit
Peace
Glad you liked them.
I agree, they sure draw your attention.
Mario Kart is amazeballs indeed!
Thanks for coming by and enjoy your day and week!
you have done a great job. i like the drawings alot
You mean my niece? ;<)
I joked about having made them.
They are created by a 7 year old ( see later in the post ),
Glad you liked them though!
wow, she is very talented.
a mix of skills and a great teacher;<)
I thought all kids liked to draw, haha. As I remember it, everyone around me did when I was growing up. But I understand if things have changed. Anyway, happy to hear your two favorite monsters keep you busy, I'm sure you enjoy their company, even though I understand it must be quite intense.
🤗
I wish that was the case.
Things have changed ( and always will ) ;<)
I'm now on day 19 of what was supposed to be max 2 weeks and I'm looking forward to returning to my cocoon in a couple of days.
Sending a hug!
I think it's important to nurture the "art" of creativity in whatever form it t akes.
When I was a kid, I used to draw maps of imaginary worlds, and constructed a complex system of governance. Having to come up with all of this on a regular basis helped to build a wellspring of ideas which fueled my writing. Those were good times! :)
No doubt about that. It's just a shame ( and that is an understatement ) that it's often 'beaten' out of us by the educational system ( especially secondary school and University ).
It almost happened to me but I managed to fight back.
Any plans to return to those times? ;<)
They were indeed good times. That was back when I was cloistered away as a kid due to my speech handicap (which I worked through). I'm guessing it was a way of expressing myself since I had trouble speaking.
Now I have a creative outlet in writing, since I wasn't blessed with the gift of being able to draw very well. Writing (when the planets line up, and I do it well), is my superpower, and brings me great joy! :)
Hope everything is going smoother than last time we talked ! I thought this song was waiting for the world to change 😆 nice sideways werld
You have a switch!?
I'm a smooth operator!🕺
My sister's boyfriend has a switch with 4 controllers.
I made it up to 2 weeks taking care of my niece and nephew and my sister's house and land so I think I'm doing well ;<)
What games does he have!? Have you played anything?
I'm not sure.
We are mainly playing Mario and Mario Kart.
He also has a game made by my brother:
Disc Room but that one is still wrapped in plastic.
I played it at my brother's before though
I have a lot of good babysitting memories because I was the youngest of several brothers and sisters. Several of my nieces and nephews are only a few years younger than me, so I was always the single uncle with free time to house-sit and whatnot. Mario Kart sounds like a blast, very nostalgic, not even sure if my Cambodian daughters know of the endless fun than can be had with a room full of friends and this game.
