I've got The Key, I've got The Secret...

The song 'The Key, The Secret', by Urban Cookie Collective, popped up in my playlist and I couldn't help but connect it to my current life.

Here's the lyrics:

I've got the key I've got the secret I've got the key To another way Ah ah ah ah ah ah A ha a ha Ah ah ah ah ah I've got the key Yeah Yeah A ha Yeah Yeah A ha Yeah yeah Yeah Yeah I've got the key I've got the key I've got the secret I've got the key To another way I've got the key I've got the key Ah ah ah ah ah ah Ah ha Ah ah ah ah I've got the key Yeah Yeah a ha Yeah Yeah a ha Yeah Yeah a ha Yeah Yeah I've got the key Oh Yeah Yeah a ha Yeah Yeah a ha Yeah Yeah a ha Yeah Yeah I've got the key Oh I've got the key I've got the secret I've got the key To another way

This must have been some of the simplest lyrics ever, but that's often the recipe for a hit and an ear wurm.

This song is one of my favorite ear wurms. I can listen to it on repeat ( in fact, I just did... )

The Key, The Secret has a high nostalgia level, as I was in my early teens ( last year of primary school ) when this came out, back in 1993.

Around that time, I started developing a personal taste in music, listening to music on my radio casette player/ -recorder ( with two tape decks ) and creating mix tapes filled with pop songs, ( usually eurodance ) that I recorded from the radio.

I love this song!

Here's the music video:

Oh and in case you missed it, I am about to move house and I signed a one year rental contract and received the keys to my new place, yesterday.

Tomorrow I'll be moving a first van load of things and I'll be living there, officially, from February onward.

I'm excited!

Thank you, Clare.

I could sure use some excitement.
Part of me is really craving hibernation for quite some time now
but I feel this might very well change around, once I'm in my new place.

🤗

It'll bring tons of gifts to you, I am sure of it - gosh, I love moving house - where I am now is the longest I have ever stayed in one place in my whole life... I often dream about finding a new place.... :-D Good luck!!

It will happen to you again too, sooner rather than later. Thank you for your kind words, they are very welcome :<)

The longest I have stayed in one place is almost 14 years, from 1988 up till 2002 ( when I moved out of my parent's house ). Afterwards, 4 and a half years is the record, with some traveling inbetween. I probably moved around 15 to 20 times in the last 2 decades.

Congrats on your new place, that's freaking cool.

Gosh, I remember that song, it brings back some odd and funny memories from my childhood. Memory lane ear wurm indeed.

Darn Earnworms {LOL}
I do remember that song as well! Though a bit into Eurodance at that time, never had the urge to record this one. I did so with Robert Miles. And Chicane. And what is this singer/band, they had this title track 'Encore a voi" or something like that. Anyways... Is the YT share in your post the original? Feels a bit faster in playback than the original. But ok, could also be the 30-odd years I last heared this track ;)
NJOY the move! And happy you got keys and all. Darn Earnworm {oops, start to repeat}

Encore une Fois was from Sash, had to look that up but I sure remember it. Chicane, Sash and Robert miles is pretty different from the 90s Eurodance that I listened to but known to me. No offense but I believe you're a little older, right? Born in the early 70s? Correct me, if I'm wrong :<)

I think it is indeed the years. I believe this is the original speed haha!

Cheers for the comment and groetjes uit Portugal!

Hahaha indeed Sash, and the title I wrote wrongly 😱 😉
Why would stating the 'fact' that I may be a bit older than you, be an offence? Am from early 70s indeed 😉
NJOY the Portugal weather today! Mostly blue sky, right? Grey in NL today, therefore more HIVE and crypto time available to me 😂

I guess I mistook you for a woman and I learnt not to talk about their age.

Just kidding haha!

Blue sky indeed. The days sure make up for the nights and morning :<)

I remember that song as well XD though I can't remember how old i was when it was getting a lot of playtime. Probably somewhere around the same age (last couple of years of primary school or first couple of years of high school).

Nostalgia.

Yay for keys :D

It's 30 years old so you do the math ;^)

There's a chance that it took some time before it reached Australia though and became a hit there. Back then, music still traveled by boat...

I lived on a tiny island in the middle of nowhere, I have no idea how much later things got there (but it was usually later, though some people might have been lucky enough to be out at the right time to get newly released things and bring them back so at least their immediate circles could hear it actually fresh) XD

I lived on a tiny island in the middle of nowhere

Do you mind sharing the name of that island?

Talking about later, Portugal often feels like it lags decades behind with many things and that is part of its charm. It reminds me of my childhood and especially summer holidays in the South of France.

Oh the nostalgia!

Christmas Island, I've outed myself many times previously XD

though I probably do refer to it as my tiny little island or my rock much more frequently

Aha, I see. Didn't remember ever having heard this and I have a good memory for these kind of details.

That’s great I’m glad that you’re moving on to the next place and it’s closer to town. Hopefully you don’t have to sit there by candle light as you did at this corner living space!

I love those nostalgia songs from back in those days. I’ve got a few floating around in my head such as Blink-182’s “All the small things” which was a pretty big hit and I remember being at a birthday party for a friend just jamming out to it!

As you might have read, by now, I sure had to sit by candle light, my first nigth in the new place.
Hope to get the electricity back in action, soonish, preferably tomorrow.

And yes, I sure remember Blink 182 and 'All the Small Things'.

I had a little (soft) punk phase too, back in the days.

Cheers!
