Decentralization of HIVE's Success is Crucial for Antifragility

Killer DAPPs are loved until something happen to them. There is little talk about decentralizing the success of Layer 1 blockchains (and other decentralized ledgers). There are project that have build better technologies than Ethereum. Koinos is one of them. Even EOS and Telos are amazing project that offer feeless transactions. Both of them are now offering EVM. Ethereum managed attract a wide variety of developers by being the first to the market and there is a strong decentralized network of builders of Ethereum DAPPs.

Even many of the competitors of Ethereum use EVM. Most of these competitors have their own decentralization of success. Even if MetaMask was to disappear out of existence, there are even better alternatives such as Samourai Wallet and BlockWallet that will take care of void and even improve upon MetaMask.

HIVE Needs Games That Can Onboard Niche Communities

We already have multiple front ends such as @leofinance @ecency @peakd and many more. @dalz make regular reports on front ends and November report is the latest I could find. Relying on blogs to create HIVE adoption is not good enough. Microblogging + games are two of the best ways to attract new users. They can be later onboarded to many different types of DAPPs over time.

@stickupboys have many more GIFs made for the game

@risingstargame is one of the best examples of a game that can be used to onboard users and keep them coming for more. It is more of an idle game that players have to check out few times a day rather than a more serious game where complex strategies at play. Players need to install Keychain and login with simply entering their username on the website.
The only problem I see is that there is no Web 2 login feature. I want users to learn about being their own bank and managing their own keys. But that is point of friction which keep millions (or even billions) of potential users away from the cryptosphere. Not all DAPPs need to have Web 2 login feature. I think it is better to have DAPPs that force users to take control of their private keys. At the same time, I see the need to see DAPPs that can help initial onboarding have some convenient features.

My Bull Case For Rising Star

The article linked above is by @bigjammin. It is his second article on HIVE. There isn't a lot that I could add to what he said. If you are interested in learning more about @risingstargame, I recommend at least skimming through the arguments.

RS is, for the most part a P2E game, however, its a P2E game with a side hustle. Because its also a music platform, where artists come, mint their music as NFT's, and sell them on, just like they would with a cd, or on Spotify or iTunes

I hate the idea of "mainstream music", thats not how art works, and that's why it sucks so hard these days, same issue in the film industry, because when you try and make art for a majority it ends up plain and boring.

So the reason I brought up the musical nature of RS is because it does also play quite a crucial part to the tokenomics, and seems to me to be one of, if not the main reason that other crypto games never have the longevity

Thats where RS comes in, because it has a side hustle, it can bring in extra revenue from outside of the game to help bridge the inflation, and also link the game into a wider network, its moving beyond just the gaming circle into the music circle and for ease of trying to find out exact figures, lets just say it doubling its target audience, market, and therefore revenue, to be able to sustain the P2E aspect.

Theres always been a fallacy thats existed since the birth of P2E, and that is by some miracle everyone should be able to earn from it. But thats just not how markets work, for 50% to earn, 50% must lose. There is no "magic" factor that allows crypto games to somehow bypass the natural order of the universe, you cannot make more of something out of nothing, no matter how hard you try. But what you can do is what Jux has done, and thats to find a workaround, and thats what that 2nd revenue stream is, from what I see it allows for the potential of a genuinely self sustaining economy.

I just want to interject a little side note here, prior to last bull market Splinterlands had roughly 10k daily players, at peak during the bull market it went over 600k. Thats 60x, in case you couldn't work that out lol. It can happen. And does happen.

Constant Updates Are A Good Sign

Keyboard Crafting went live few days ago! This is another added feature to bring more depth beyond being a simple idle game. Anyone can play @risingstargame as an idle game or explore deeper as they warm upto the game over time. There were constant updates throughout the bear market. It was the best sign I had about the future of the game. Most cryptocurrency projects get abandoned during bear markets or at least slow down their development. An exception shows resilience long term vision.

Blockchain Gaming Will Become Massive

Do not let the presentation and thumbnails distract you from the content. Elliot is making some very good points. The problem is that he had his business partner Alex Becker do not seem to know about HIVE or the DAPPs built on top if it. HIVE is one of the best places for blockchain gaming. There is an already existing community with our own decentralized social media that can try out games without having to pay any transaction fees. @vsc.network is already working on bringing even more amazing feature to HIVE.

HIVE needs to build good tools to make it easy for developers to create more DAPPs easily and target specific niches. We need different types of games. We need to move away from having few DAPPs contributing to most of the transactions and economic activity. Smaller and more casual games that bring in users and keep them engaged could be a very important part of the puzzle.

@risingstargame has created a strong niche community. I see this as a good blueprint to replicate. Instead of trying to compete every other project going after the most popular demographics, smaller less competitive niches can be an effective onboarding tool. If we need more freedoms in the world, cryptosphere must grow and become a part of the lives of everyday people. Games can help build that future for all of us.

Happy Gaming! Happy Investing!

We are looking at allowing people to sign up without a HIVE account to at least run missions and start accumulating STARBITS. So far it is just a thought and I have not looked into the code to see how much would need to be done though.

Thanks as always for your very well thought out posts!
Cheers,
Jux.

I do't know how much of the code is open source, but there are multiple projects that have enabled login without a HIVE account. Maybe some parts of it is reusable. Thank you for reading as always!

Best of Luck!
