Orgullosa de mi Banda Rítmica: Pequeños músicos con un futuro prometedor|Proud of My Rhythm Section: Young Musicians with a Promising Future

¡Señoras y señores! Mi banda rítmica logra sorprenderme cada día más y me hace sentir profundamente orgullosa. Siento que tengo ante mí a un grupo de niños increíblemente inteligentes y talentosos.

Ladies and gentlemen! My rhythm section never ceases to amaze me, and it makes me feel deeply proud. I feel as though I have before me a group of incredibly intelligent and talented children.

​Hoy tuvimos una presentación especial en una institución educativa donde compartimos parte de nuestro repertorio habitual. Aunque actualmente nos encontramos inmersos en el montaje de las piezas para el Día de las Madres, surgió esta oportunidad y, confiando plenamente en la capacidad de mis alumnos, decidimos asumirla. Con solo un día de ensayo intensivo para refrescar y afianzar las piezas, el resultado fue sencillamente genial. A mis niños les llena de emoción salir a presentarse en nuevos escenarios, y ya tengo planificadas bastantes actividades para ellos, pues nos acompañarán hasta el cierre del ciclo escolar en julio. Después, emprenderán nuevos caminos en otras cátedras donde seguirán desarrollándose como músicos; por eso, nuestro objetivo principal para este tiempo restante es disfrutar al máximo, explorar piezas divertidas y continuar presentándonos con alegría.

Today we gave a special performance at a school where we shared part of our usual repertoire. Although we are currently busy rehearsing pieces for Mother’s Day, this opportunity arose, and, having complete confidence in my students’ abilities, we decided to take it on. With just one day of intensive rehearsal to refresh and solidify the pieces, the result was simply wonderful. My students are thrilled to perform on new stages, and I already have plenty of activities planned for them, as they will be with us until the end of the school year in July. Afterward, they will embark on new paths in other classes where they will continue to develop as musicians; that is why our main goal for this remaining time is to enjoy ourselves to the fullest, explore fun pieces, and continue performing with joy.

​Respecto a la experiencia de hoy, me gustó mucho la oportunidad de mostrar nuestro trabajo, aunque admito que la organización de la escuela no fue la ideal. El exceso de ruido ambiental hizo que la labor fuera bastante tediosa; incluso estando cerca del profesor de teclado, me costaba escuchar el instrumento y me vi obligada a elevar la voz más de lo debido. Esto, lamentablemente, ha complicado la disfonía que traía —la cual ya estaba mejorando tras el descanso del fin de semana—, pero estoy tranquila porque pronto asistiré a mi consulta de foniatría para evaluar la situación y seguir las recomendaciones necesarias.

As for today’s experience, I really enjoyed the opportunity to showcase our work, though I’ll admit that the school’s organization left something to be desired. The excessive background noise made the task quite tedious; even standing close to the keyboard teacher, I had trouble hearing the instrument and found myself having to raise my voice more than necessary. Unfortunately, this has exacerbated the hoarseness I was already experiencing—which had been improving after the weekend break—but I’m not worried because I’ll soon be attending my speech therapy appointment to assess the situation and follow the necessary recommendations.

​Lo más gratificante de todo es ver cómo nuestra banda se ha consolidado: tocan con una seguridad sorprendente y, por supuesto, cantan con una sensibilidad preciosa. Me siento plenamente feliz y orgullosa al ver mi trabajo y, sobre todo, su esfuerzo reflejados en cada nota.

The most rewarding thing of all is seeing how our band has come together: they play with surprising confidence and, of course, sing with such beautiful sensitivity. I feel truly happy and proud to see my work—and, above all, their hard work—reflected in every note.
