Weekend Engagement 278: Vibes and Volleys
For this #weekend-engagement, I'm writing about questions 2 and 3:
When has doing the unexpected, unconventional or simply different thing to other people worked in your advantage? Explain the situation and result. [This was the first topic, I'm not writing about it but included to keep the numbered list in order.]
Have you ever been to a weekend music event or festival? Use your images of it and explain what it was like.
Share your hobby, the thing you do for enjoyment (not something you do at work)
A Weekend Music Event
The timing of this topic is perfect, because we just recently attended a weekend music event. Friends of ours recently built a wedding and event venue in their backyard. To celebrate, they held a small concert there on a Saturday evening. They had a local singer do the opening, and a country singer from Nashville was the headliner.
This is the stage area outside, with some overhead lighting. The building in the background is used for weddings, parties, and other events. It's a beautiful location and the weather was perfect.
It was a small event with about 160 people in attendance. People brought their own chairs and blankets; all seating was outdoors on the grass.
The opening act started on stage around 6:30 pm. Truthfully, I'm not a big fan of country music and only went to support our friends. The act was fine but not my preferred style of music.
The headliner was quite good, I enjoyed her performance even without being a fan of country music.
In all, we had a wonderful time at the event. We got to talk with a lot of friends, meet new people, and ate good food while enjoying a good live music performance in a beautiful location.
My New Hobby: Pickleball
Yes, my new hobby that I started a few months ago is playing pickleball at our gym. It's a great location because we do one or two HIIT classes (or open weights for some), and we all meet up outside for several games of pickleball.
Of course, I had to get myself a decent paddle to play (thanks to Aliexpress).
We play on two courts outdoors. Often, we have 8-10 players in the evenings. We have a lot of fun playing and learning together. None of us are exceptionally good, but we have a great time and get plenty of exercise doing it!
Thanks
Thanks to @galenkp for suggesting this topic in the Weekend-Engagement Topics: Week 278.
Legit man, looks good and a good way to kick it all off; I wish them all the success in the world. I like to see people getting after it, taking a punt and trying to make things happen.
I've never played pickle ball but am pretty sure I'd kick your ass...or get mine kicked. One or the other. It's unlikely to be a draw because homie don't play dat. We'd keep playing until their was victory and defeat.
(I wasn't able to curangel this as I'd only just done so on another of your posts so I got my brother to do it.)
Thanks for the well wishes for my friends. I agree with you, it's great to see people taking a risk to pursue their dreams.
If we did play, I'm certain there would be plenty of trash talk 😀
Thanks for the curangel from your brother, I appreciate it!
Loads of trash talk indeed. It is mandatory.
