Three Tunes Tuesday: What Happened To The Cranberries
I always look forward to Tuesdays as they are time for another episode of three tunes Tuesday @blaze. I have been following for sometime now but have never contributed. Today I would love to contribute and be part of it, as music has always been a part of me.
Thanks to @blaze for creating this wonderful opportunity to share with the hive community some of the music we love.
It was in my sophomore year in the university. My course mate, who happens to be a close friend, just came back from one of his numerous travels abroad. I had gone to visit him, then I heard that sound from his stereo. The sonorous voice of the lead singer, who I later got to know was Delores O' Riordan, was so soothing.
That voice, that sound, totally changed my perception and taste of music. Never heard that particular genre of music. It was eclectic, at least to my ears.
I got to find out the band was called, "The Cranberries." An Irish band led by the inimitable Dolores. They play a subtle version of rock.
The track I heard that day was titled, Dream, from their debut album. Ever since I heard that track, I have been hooked to this wonderful Irish band. I know virtually all their songs and the year of their releases. I could listen to the cranberries all day long.
Formed in 1989,they were originally called, Cranberry saw us. The bands name was soon changed to "The cranberries" in 1990, immediately Dolores O' Riordan joined the group. Their kind of music was known as alternative rock, with fusion of other aspects of rock.
Their first album was titled "everybody else was doing it, so why can't us". It contained tracks like, ***dreams, linger, waltzing back ***and some great ones.
They separated for six years and later came back together in 2009. But it was never the same again. Their subsequent releases didn't do much, like the earlier albums and singles released. Never the less, they were still one of the biggest rock band to come out of Ireland.
In 2018, the lead singer, Dolores, was found dead, drowned in a London hotel pool. Her death brought about the end of the group. In 2010, cranberries were no more. They were disbanded. It was a massive heartbreak for lovers of this special band.
I totally enjoyed their songs, even till this day. I have majority of their songs on my playlist.
Zombie is one of their best song. This song won so many awards. It got over a billion views on YouTube.
Dream: this song started my journey with cranberries. Made me fall in love with the band.
Dreaming my dream: one of my best song from the group. Very emotional and touching.
There are so much more from this wonderful group. Their fans misses them, but there is a repertoire of their music.
Who else is a cranberries lover like me?
