The country of six seasons

In Bangladesh, the seasons can be slightly different due to its geographical location and tropical climate. While the traditional four seasons are present, two additional seasons are also recognised in the country: the rainy season and the mild winter season.

The rainy season, known as "Barsha" in Bengali, is a period of heavy rainfall that generally occurs from mid-June to mid-August.

During this season, monsoon rains are frequent and can cause flooding in some areas of the country.

The mild winter season, called "Hemanta" in Bengali, occurs from November to February. Although not as cold as winter in other parts of the world, temperatures in Bangladesh can drop and a pleasantly cool breeze is experienced.

The other four seasons, which are more familiar to everyone, are also experienced in Bangladesh. Spring, known as "Boshonto" in Bengali, brings warm and pleasant weather after the colder months, extending from late January to mid-April.

Summer, called "Grishmo" in Bengali, is a period of intense heat and sunny days, running from mid-April to mid-June.

Autumn, or "Sharat" in Bengali, from mid-August to mid-October brings cooler temperatures and falling leaves.

And, of course, winter, or "Sheet" in Bengali, is the coldest season of the year, running from late November to the end of January.
