Music Sunday - Temple of the King (by Axel)

Another Sunday, another opportunity to share some of my favorite music :)

Now, if you are a metal head like me then there's no chance in hell you are not familiar with the song "Temple of the King", a timeless classic by Rainbow.

It's just one of those songs that create all shorts of feelings, from the first notes to the very end, thanks to the combination of Dio's powerful vocals, the expert guitar playing and of course the lyrics. Motivation, nostalgia, hope, it's a real coaster.

One of those songs that you return to again and again and again.

But I am not here to talk about the original version.

When a song becomes as successful as The Temple of the kings it's only natural to spawn hundreds if not thousands of covers.

But rarely any of those manage to surpass the original.

First, there's the obstacle of getting it better then the original band which is usually to good for someone to come even close.

And then there's the obstacle of overcoming the one that left that very first imprint on our brain. Even if a cover is better, it must be way way WAY better to feel better. It's something like the first kiss I guess. That first imprint is just too strong.

But sometimes such a cover does exist. And when it comes it just blows your mind.

And in the case of Temple of the Kings, imo, it's the version by Axel Rudi Pell and Johnny Gioeli in the vocals.

A powerful combo that takes the song to a whole new level.
