You Want To Be Entertained? Check Out "Prof"

Oh it's been a while since I posted for Three Tune Tuesday. Since working a few different jobs, I have less and less time to spend online. But I always make time to listen to music and there is one artist that I have been enjoying lately. I'm into lots of different genres of music, but mostly it has to be music that moves me. Music that I can put on to uplift me, heal me, music that I love to dance to. Ultimately, Music that entertains me. Something that this artist does very well. On top of being a talented producer, lyricist, rapper and singer, Prof is a performer. His swagger is off the charts and if he ever ventures over this side of the world, I would love to go see him perform live.

Prof is an American, hailing from Minneapolis, he comes from a troubled home, which he shares in some of his tracks. Yet, he has a very playful side, some of this music, really takes the piss. I do like folk, who don't take things too seriously and he certainly does that. When he raps, he likes to shock, whilst being way too cool for his own good.

This first song, "Tarzan", is catchy as fuck. As well as showcasing his skills at entertaining, it has the best opening lyrics. ( It comes with parental advisory). The beat is crazy and you can literally see himself shake himself into character, before he starts to perform. If you are easily offended, then perhaps he is not the artist for you, especially with this track. But damn he is entertaining. I keep catching myself humming this song and I must say I have gotten quite the reaction when I begin to sing it. ( @galenkp, I have a feeling you might enjoy this one, sorry in advance for the tag).

Parental advisory due to unneccessa—
Uh, fuck it
Get your fuckin' popcorn, bitch
I'm 'bout to let my fuckin' nuts hang (Right on, brother)
Donuts in the Mustang (Fuckin' right on, brother)
See how low my chain go (Right on, brother)
Sit back and watch me work my angle (Fuckin' right on, brother)

This next one, is one of a much more serious matter, with him singing more. "Louisiana" expresses Prof's views about the current state of the world around him, the struggle that is all too real for some, those living in more marginalized communities. You can see just how much this track means to Prof in this performance. There is so much emotion in his voice and performance and at the end he lets you know that he gave it his all. And damn it , he can sing. It's great to be entertaining, but it's powerful when you use your voice to spread awareness.

Where might one go to find peace of mind?
Where might one find one who treats you kind?
Everybody think they got the angels on they side
Is it possible for us all to get radicalized?
I don’t know how I’m gonna make it through another one of these nights
You can tell I’m at the end of my rope just by the look in my eyes
We’re all going hungry with isolation
To feel something find confrontation

The final one, well it's a song about love. It's another one, where Prof is singing, singing and giving it his all. There is so much passion in this performance, well in all of his performances actually. Maybe it's the romantic in me, but this is one of my favourites ( one of many lol). It's his swag that gets me, his confidence and playfulness and the fact that you can clearly see how much he loves to sing and perform. It's kind of contagious. 4

You got me crushed to pieces
I've been down deep, I've seen the bottom
I have reckless tunnel vision
Oh won't you take these chains off me
I won't lie, won't lie, you can save my life.

Shout out to Mo Chara, @ablaze for keeping this wonderful intuitive alive. Prof has so many great tracks, it was kind of hard to pick just three. Let me know if you check out any of his other stuff, I certainly recommend it. Actually feck it, here's one more, just cos, he makes some wicked videos as well, and this one is just one example of the many he has done. Plus I love to dance to it.

He is definitely a peculiar artist. Although I'm not a fan of rap, I admit he has a lot of style. Of the songs, I liked Spellbound. Thanks for sharing! 💕
