That One Weekend!
That one weekend, that I would like to re-experience, from this year. Its not a hard one to choose. Those two days/nights that I got to go away with two friends, to "Luz Del Sur" Estatic Arts Festival, in Cadiz. It just came at the right time. (I wasn't even sure I was going to go, until the very last minute, when everything just fell into place.)
It was just, at the beginning of September, after we had left behind the intense heat of August. It was still very warm, but at least the nights were cooler. When its super hot, I find it hard to keep it together sometimes, my patience is well worn by the time September rolls round.
This festival, was just what I needed. Time where I got to relax
(in my own way) and recharge. To connect with some amazing people and dance each day, letting everything that I had carried, melt away.
When I dance, I am free. Free from distractions, from my thoughts, from these daily restraints we all experience. I am fully in the moment. I surrender to the music and just be. Nothing, is more freeing to me.
I got to see Alex Serra again, I really do love his music, especially with Totidub, who was accompanying him. It's such uplifting and empowering music and so good to dance to. I was super excited to see them perform again.
That's them in the picture above and
in the first one from this post. I discovered Alex's music at the beginning of Lockdown and I list to his music almost daily. Especially first thing in the morning. It's so important what we listen to as we start our day.
The whole event was outdoors, with lots of shading provided. The amin dance area was huge. Which is important for me, because when I dance I like to move area. I don't like feeling restricted when I dance. I can still dance in small spaces but I would rather not.
I also got to see Januman, an amazing Estatic Dance Muscian. He used his voice, play a lot of instruments, whilst also isong a loop machine. The end result was certainly Estatic. I really loved his set. It was a lot of fun.
The Festival was in a camp site, that the organisers rented out for the whole event. It was on for a week, but I ended up going for just the weekend. I was lucky enough to find somewhere for my girls to be for two nights, a whole week, would be difficult. So I really appreciated the time I had. Time where I was only responsible for myself and my well being.
The campsite was next to the most beautiful lake, that I got to swim in at least twice a day. It was a wonderful way to start the day. On the last day. I went down to the lake after lunch and there was no one else there. I swim out and then suddenly I was surrounded by shallows, which took turns diving at the water, quite close to me. It was a beautiful experience. That's the lake in the above picture.
I think I danced for at least 8 hours each day. Staring the day singing, then doing some workshops, which mostly involved dancing. Then estatic dance, followed by live music. It was just what I needed. To come together with others and meet them with an open heart.
One of the most important things we can do as humans, is to learn to meet other beings with an open heart. To male connections, which in turn help each of us, to connect more fully with ourselves. I felt so nourished and nurtured that whole weekend and feel like I could use that right now. Next best thing, reliving the experience I already had. Cheers @galenkp for creating that opportunity, with one of the questions from your Weekend Engagement Writing Challenge.
You really enjoyed yourself. Beautiful pictures and great festival, you people really had fun.
We certainly did, thank you @blessworld xx
wow! It look so peaceful and relaxing there. I'm sure it wouldn`t be any hard for you to pick this moment from all there is. I mean, Mandalas, yoga classes and truly air of reconnecting with ourselves. Quite fascinating.
It was such a wonderful event. I can't wait to attend again, next year xxx
It looks like one hell of an experience!
