Mobius Loop Bringing Their Medicine To My Community

Just over four years ago, I got to see Mobius Loop live, they played a gig during lockdown, at one of our community pop up markets. At a time, when the world was being told to distant themselves from others, we done the exact opposite. We felt the need to come together during these challenging times, that human contact was badly needed. It felt so good dancing outside, as they sang their song "Politically Hot Potato", a song that became somewhat of an anthem for many of us around these parts.

They came back out this way, a couple of months back and have played a few gigs, one of which was on New Years Eve, but I missed it, as I was in the depths of my back problems. Which saw me spending that evening in bed resting. Last night, they held a candle light concert, in the temple, an amazing building, that is a part of the Alternative Midwifery School , that is on the opposite side the river to where I live. I have attended many a wonderful event there, but I was especially looking forward to seeing them, perform there.

I went with some of my friends, we all made an effort to get dressed up, which for me, meant wearing a dress. I knew that this was going to be a more intimate gig, one where we would all be sitting on the floor. With the fire burning, it was super cozy. There where about 25 of us, lucky beings we were. I was super excited, to hear them again, as they blew me away the first time, I heard them. They have such a wonderful stage presence. Last night was a very striped back performance, with keyboard, fiddle and flute.

They play a mixture of folk music, world music, and conscious rap. I was expecting good things and they certainly delivered, but it was so much more than an amazing performance. It was medicine. There choice of songs for the gig, had me crying, laughing and cheering. They lost their first child, when he was 10 months old and they channelled their grief into their music. Sharing their healing journey, through their words. Bringing everyone in the audience to tears, as they questioned why and then shared their gratitude for the immense lessons they had learnt from their Son, during his very short time earthside.

They hope that by sharing their journey with grief, that they can encourage other people to do the same. It was so beautiful. Rose, has such a beautiful voice, that just soars, as she sings. She sand, played the guitar, violin and flute. Whilst Alex, sang, played the guitar and piano. I felt so blessed to have been given the opportunity to hear them in such an intimate setting. They also sang songs about the great mother, hemp and lastly, the female Orgasm. Which had me up dancing at the end, I mean how could I not, get excited and dance.

Then today, they played, at the local Cannabis cup. They travel around in their housetruck, which also turns into a stage. Their Hemp Redemption stage, so of course they wanted to perform, at the cup. This time their music was a lot more upbeat and everyone was n their feet dancing. I'm feeling so lucky that I got to see them twice in one weekend. I would highly recommend going to see them live, if they ever play near where you live.

I took no pictures of the intimate gig, the photos here, are from today at the Cannabis Cup. I was too engrossed with their performance to take any photos. Too busy crying or laughing to think to take my camera out.
