Vibes Week 29 The Story So Far and My Song Recommendation.

Upon the announcement of the Vibes community opening its doors to writers, I had always wanted to contribute with my piece since I can't sing (one day, I will also drop mine), I guess the next big thing is to contribute the way I can.
Before I continue, I want to applaud the initiative of @Obaro and his team on the just completed musical competition sponsored by Vibes through Hive and congratulations to the 3 winners but I guess with vibes, everyone is a winner 😉

So,

With week 29 which began on the 1st of February 2025, the community has witnessed a lot of entries and more will still flood in as the week progresses I give them big thumps up 👍 because it is not easy standing in front of the camera doing anything at all. But what I noticed about most of them is that they drifted from the week's theme which is fine since any and every entry is accepted but what they need to know which I guess they don't is that to be qualified, you need to follow the set theme since it is not a freestyle week.
The theme as most already know is throwback to the 90s. Hearing things brought a lot of memories flooding in because I went back on memory lane of how every Saturday we were forced to listen to those 90 songs and they stuck in the end. My mum was the accomplice in this by always supporting my dad whenever they started. The most they played were Westlife, Celine Dion, and Backstreet Boys. I got to memorize all the lyrics especially that of Westlife because their lyrics just hit the right nerves especially now that I'm grown.

My Recommendations

Since according to Verbal D, any genre, country, and language are accepted, I will suggest the following.

• Celine Dion - It's All Coming Back To Me. Her voice and pitch might make it difficult for people to keep up with.
• Westlife - If I Let You Go or any of their hits.
• Backstreet Boys - I Want It That Way
• Whitney Houston - I Will Always Love You. I would love to see @babymoyin do this because I just know it will sound beautiful with her voice. Her version of "Man Down" was mind-blowing. I wonder how she didn't qualify, but the judges know the best.

Lastly, I would love to see covers of Fela and Sunny Ade from Nigeria. Hearing a cover of African Queen won't be so bad. Michael Jackson covers might also fly. I wish all entries the best. What would be lovely to see is a guy covering a woman's song and language switch, especially if a Spanish does one of Fela's.

After listening to everyone, I will return again to pick my top 10. Until then, I will return to the shadows.
