Music Video Inspires Game Full of Nakedness

What do you do if you are a fan of a music band such as blink 182? If you are Alarnonos you create a game called blink, give it some Nintendo 64 aesthetics, and add in a few aliens for good measure to give it some tension. This is taking fandom to a new level, nothing but respect for the developer. Many say they want to do things like this, then there are people like this – those that do it.

Comedy Bits All Over and Private Bits Covered

Blink is based on the music video for “What’s My Age Again? Most reading this that are familiar with that archaic music delivery option called a music video will probably remember this one for the censorship. Considering the band is naked and running through the streets, wreaking havoc as naked grown men run around the city, it is only natural certain bits are censored.

Do not worry, they are covered in this fan game as well, further embracing the high level of fandom here.

Deviating from the Source

Since this is a game there must be game elements, right? The developer has added in aliens to avoid and coins to collect, giving the game a bit of urgency and danger that the music video did not feature.

The graphics feature line scrolls galore, 2.5D gaming if you will. Run around, avoid the aliens and collect coins as you experience some familiar locations from the video.

The developer released a preview video that shows off the game quite well. Though I am pretty sure it is not meant to run on a real Nintendo 64 (nothing in the download even hints at such action). I bring this up because in the teaser video the first thing we are shown is a VERY Nintendo 64 looking box art and an N64 cartridge bearing the games logo and such being inserted into a Nintendo 64.

If there is a way to play this on a real Nintendo 64 then it has eluded me in my basic search for that information.

You can grab blink by alarconos over on itch.io via the “pay what you want” release method. If you enjoy it, please consider giving the developer some support whether it is some cash, a like, a share or a comment – it all helps developers stay motivated making more games we enjoy.

What an interesting game, funny that it looks like a Nintendo 64 console haha, it seemed strange to me to see those graphics on a 5th generation console. Good post!

The design choices for the graphics definitely helped catch my eye when I first saw this one. 😂
