Songs to live and suffer / Week 209

Music is a universal cultural manifestation and is capable of transmitting the most dissimilar sensations, awakening feelings and transmitting emotions.

When we think of music, we always think of it as an inexhaustible source of celebration and joy. It may be created for that purpose, but it is not always so.

Based on the above, it is worth asking ourselves:

Can music transmit sadness and joy?
Is it possible that this symphony of melodies, harmonies, lyrics and voices is capable of awakening such antagonistic feelings?
Is it possible to cry and laugh with the songs we listen to?

The saddest song

I'm a music lover, which doesn't mean I'm an expert on the subject. What I can assure you is that I have listened to all kinds of music and there are themes or songs that have been part of the history of my life.

As it has happened to many of us, there are songs that served to conquer our first love, others that remind us of adventures, heartbreaks, friendships and all kinds of actions of our walk through life.

However, for this writer there is a song that as soon as she hears the first musical chords tears flow from her eyes that she cannot control.

The essence of this song is the longing and pain for the loss of a loved one and the request to stop time to see that person again, to embrace him/her, to love him/her. It is a very well interpreted song by this duo and when I listen to it my soul hurts, tears, and is wounded.

This happens because when I listen to the song my mother and her physical departure come to my mind.

It has been six years since she left, but the pain is as if it were today.

I remember that when my mother died I told an IT guy to make a video with some of the photos I had and the background music was that song and the guy ended up crying.

Joy, connection and life

There are several songs that awaken feelings of joy in me and are a permanent invitation to daily enjoyment. However, about two years ago I was sent a fragment of a song that lifted my spirits in such a way that I have it as a bedside song or for when I'm down in the dumps.
