A prolonged illness claimed the life of Tina Turner at the age of 83. In the small Swiss town of Küsnacht, which is near Zurich, she spent her last days at home. The news has been announced by the artist's spokesman.

Under the name of Anna Mae Bullock, Turner was born in the United States in 1939. It was a difficult childhood for her.
