Backstage "Sessions" are where the magic happens
Hey 3speak and Hive music Lovers!
When you go to a concert, you will see the show that is prepared for you. Countless hours of rehearsal and preparation that goes into the show.. but sometimes the "real" musical moments happen in the backstage. If you've been following us here, you know that we have been full-time traveling musicians for a decade. We play 50+ shows per year across multiple continents and meet a lot of incredible performers and creatives along the way. That often culminates in a backstage "session", where we get together either before or after the show and just have a bit of a jam. Truthfully, this is where the real mooments of creation often happen.
In sessions you are experiencing a real moment of connection. You are free to make mistakes without judgment of the audience, and so you can push the bounds of your creativity. You are exchanging your vibes and passions with others. It is a raw moment of art.
This is a video of a little pre-show session that we had over the weekend. It's very folky, but we were just warming up a bit before taking the stage a few minutes later. There is something beautiful about this moment, seeing the smiles and the happiness on our faces as we jam together on a new theme for the first time.

Performing to an audience is great, but I spend a lot more time playing with friends at the pub or other small jams where there is less pressure and we can just enjoy ourselves. Mind you we played a gig at a birthday party over the weekend that was fun. It was an interesting evening that also featured morris dancers.
