Composing a vocal is a crucial part of producing music but often a lesser known one. It involves piecing together different vocal takes and mixing them together to create a seamless sounding vocal. This method is often preferred to recording the vocal completely in one go, as it allows the engineer more control over the sound of the vocal. Additionally, by combining multiple takes, the engineer can choose which parts of each take they prefer and make the most accurate representation of the vocal take. It’s an incredibly difficult process that requires a great deal of skill and experience, however when done correctly it can add a great deal of depth and clarity to a vocal track.
