Corría la década de los ochenta y yo apenas era un adolescente cuando empecé a escuchar esas canciones que marcaban la vida de cualquiera que pasara por una fiesta o una radio encendida. Entre ellas apareció “How Old Are You?” - ¿Cuántos años tienes? de Miko Mission, un cantante italiano que se hizo conocido dentro de ese movimiento musical que llamaban Italo-disco. La verdad es que en ese entonces yo no sabía nada de géneros ni de nombres, solo sabía que aquella melodía tenía algo especial, algo que me atrapaba y que me hacía moverme sin pensarlo mucho.

Hoy, con el paso del tiempo, entiendo que Miko Mission venía de Italia y que esta canción, lanzada en 1984, se convirtió en un éxito en discotecas de toda Europa. Pero para mí, lo importante es lo que representaba en ese momento: era ritmo, era juventud, era esa sensación de que la vida estaba apenas comenzando. Yo la bailaba en Venezuela, sin imaginarme que décadas después seguiría escuchándola con la misma energía, como si el tiempo no hubiera pasado.

La letra es sencilla pero directa: habla de esos encuentros donde uno quiere conocer al otro, de la curiosidad por descubrir quién es esa persona que tienes enfrente, de atreverse a preguntar y dejarse llevar.
