Music- Surviving the 'Silly Season'
Well, not quite .... my girth has expanded in sympathy with my ears who took an awful lot of abuse over three days. But here I am .... alone in quiet for a short while, the only sound the clicking of my keyboard.
A rather charming song from a period which to my mind was not really exceptional for music. Obviously not including the Rock genre... always exceptional {roll of the eyes.... grins}
At some stage I should do a post dedicated to Sade' ....an exceptional talent who to my mind did not have the greatest advisors / mentors guiding her... should have been as recognized as the Barbara Streisand's of music in my absolutely not humble opinion.
I always believed Tom Rush had performed (and made famous) this track. Not so apparently .... and I do recognize this version a the one I knew as a young adult.
That is it for today gentle folk ... it is RIDICULOUSLY hot in my particular piece of Africa and I feel a snooze coming on...
😆😆😆 and and and am so sorry for laughing, your ears, man, that bad, but then again is remains funny how you wrote this. btw, what was so bad then? a few titles in word should be possible?
Not sure how to understand the first part, the mind and not really exceptional music? You mean, much of music from that era is not good? Darn, I can list a whole lot of good stuff. Lot on the electronic side of things I suppose, Jean Michael Jarre for instance, Tangerine Dream, Talk Talk (oww 80s more than 70s I suppose). Also the early disco, very interersting, though I can't just throw out names. But also Kate Bush, darn good. Damn, must be so much more, but am a bit out of names at the moment. My mind isn't helping me out here.
Agree with you! Should've been much higher in the pyramid of artists.
NJOY the hotness over there. Very very grey and the opposite of hot where I am on planet Earth.
Okay, you are right about Jean Michael Jarre ... Oxygene springs to mind... the pop music was rather mediocre at the time to my rock infested ear and taste is what I meant. Perversely that same 'pop' music features in my most memorable music category when evoking memories of my childhood.
Cool and agree. On the Pop side of things not much. Here and there was some good stuff, though.
Are we going to be seeing a lot of photos from your upcoming walks/runs/cycles then? :)
Ears took an awful lot of abuse, I hope you mean just because there were more people than usual talking at you/louder/more music etc and not people actually being awful :S
Hope you're having a good silly season or that it's getting better.
hello my friend. No verbal abuse, just a myriad of people and a cacophony of sound. No music {sulk} ....
Wishing you and your loved ones (including your project) ... a super, healthy, blessed 2025.
Oh good ^_^;
I can relate about too many people and too much sound. I love catching up with both sides of the family but I do need to go hide in a hole afterwards.
Aww thanks ^_^ and I love that you included my project among my loved ones XD
