So it is Sunday evening.... I am in Florence having just returned from walking the streets enjoying the christmas lights and the hustle and bustle. Crisp late autumn weather yet the streets are crowded with tourists and locals. Surprising !!
A strange tune but one I used to love as a child. Why it popped into my head while I was typing the opening paragraph I have no idea but here it is.

So last night, as is our wont, we settled down to watch something on Netflix (Man, I love the convenience of streaming and the dirt cheap data here in Europe...going to miss that soon) ... my good lady chose a weird movie which is a compilation of short 'western' themed movies called 'The Ballad of Buster Scruggs'
Was my wife extremely surprised when, in the opening scene, I sang along with the cowboy.... knowing every lyric of the song. Below !!
As a 9 year old I used to listen to this 78rpm record on my mom's old turntable.... just loved it. For the record the movie has amazing cinematography, some of the short movies are macabre but all in all I enjoyed it. But definitely weird.
So I decided to punish you all with the original performed by Frankie Laine, the version I listened to over and over again as a young child.
