Metal weekend continues with some great heavy metal from the 1980's!

Today I thought we might go back to the metal weekend, but for a twist we'll do it 80's style. Hair bands were everywhere, on the Sunset Strip in Los Angeles music producers were signing up nearly every hard rock band performing in Whisky a Go Go. I was a teenager in the 80's, it was a great time to be a music fan. Iconic bands like Judas Priest, AC/DC, and Metallica were all huge. Today I thought I'd share some fun songs from three of the biggest bands of the 80's.

First up of course is AC/DC, it's hard to think of heavy metal with out them. Angus Young had been on a flight that was struck by lightning and gave him the inspiration to start writing this tune, that everyone knows well: Thunderstruck

Towards the end of the eighties Guns N Roses were huge. Their only problem was they just couldn't get along very well. Then add fame and drugs to the equation and things got really messed up, and let's face it, Axl Rose is kind of an asshole, but they made some great music. This one is one of their early songs from when they all still liked one another: Paradise City

And last up today another band who were a total drug mess. Motley Crue were the ultimate drugged up band and disasters ensued. Hanoi Rocks drummer Razzle was killed in an accident when singer Vince Neal was driving drunk. They would trash hotel rooms and spend their time off in strip clubs. Nikki Sixx's heroine addiction nearly killed him multiple times from overdoses, apparently on one occasion an Emergency Medical Technician refused to let the rock star die in his ambulance and injected epinephrine straight into his heart to restart it. Supposedly that's where this song came from: Kickstart My Heart

I hope you enjoyed my metal weekend choices. It's always fun to pick out some random great songs from the 80's. Have a great weekend everyone!

Three BAD ASS bands. Which I have seen all three in concert many times. I think AC/DC I’ve seen ten times.

All three really are bad ass! AC/DC always puts on an awesome show, I've not seen them ten times but at least five.

What’s funny is I’ve seen Motley Crue open for AC/DC. But I’ve also seen Guns N Roses open for Motley Crue. I’ve seen them all headline as well, but thought that was interesting. Guess it’s bound to happen when you’ve seen as many shows as I have.

Those must have been great shows! The nice thing about where you live is your close enough to go see all the great shows when they pass through town.

I’ve taken full advantage of it, I’ve seen over 700 ticketed concerts.

So many bands had "people issues" Lol...when you see a long lasting band it makes you stop and wonder how they did it!😇

Money, drugs, ego, and fame are always a bad mix. It's amazing bands like the Rolling Stones stuck it out!

Very true, they stuck it out for a long time until they lost Dusty Hill a couple years back. That was a shame, but we aren't immortal!
