When Music Becomes a Nuisance: Balancing Enjoyment with Respect for Others.

You must have had a scenario where you heard loud music from the neighborhood and felt worried and annoyed at the same time. How do you feel about this? Just because we are really different people with different mindsets, some might decide not to say anything and some might decide to talk. I had this experience with my neighbor. Well, not directly, but in an apartment that is 3 rooms away from mine.

It was late in the evening yesterday when I was trying to sleep after facing the day's stress, and then my neighbor started playing this loud music. As much as I love music, I was not complaining about that, and neither am I ready to say anything about the way she was playing the music loudly.

I decided to sleep even with the loud noise playing at that time. When it got to some point, I couldn't resist the sound of the music again and it was becoming a noise to me. Coupled with the fact that some guys use this as an avenue to carry out robbery operations when they know many people are not around, and this time most people have traveled to their various houses for holiday.

I waited for some time not to go knock on her door because I felt it was going to be the wrong thing for me to do. But when the music was becoming too much, I had to call her on the phone and let her know the music she was playing was now becoming a noise and disturbing the people around. Immediately I called her, and she asked if the music was disturbing and sounding like where I was, and I replied yes.

At that instance, she stopped playing the music, and I was able to fall asleep. Music, as far as I know, is meant for relaxation and also for our enjoyment. But when it is now unbearable, it is not becoming noise, and not everyone can tolerate the noise around them even when they are not sleeping. I sometimes play music in my room because I love music so much. But when I play it, I try to go outside and see if the music I am playing is not disturbing others.

Sometimes, we might be playing music that is pleasant, but it will not be a pleasant one to others because they do not like the type of song we are playing. This will result in noise, and they will not find it attractive to hear. As much as we love to listen to music, we should always know that others have their own choices for something and we should always take them into consideration for whatever we do, especially while playing music.
