The Importance of Mentorship in Music Learning..

It is always good when you have a musical mentor, because music is never easy when you do not have someone to put you on the right path. Despite loving music, there was a time in my life where I was getting tired of it because I didn't have the proper knowledge to learn more advanced musically, and when you do not learn forward, it is like you are stagnant and not moving forward.

The beauty of good music is learning new things, and even if you do not learn new things, you should be able to beautify what you have known or learned and be able to make it new to everyone you play it to every time. When I started learning a musical instrument, I found it hard to learn even with a mentor, but I was rest assured that he would put me through it, so I was not scared.

It all happened because, after I had been taught some musical aspects, I proceeded to learn some basic concepts myself to add to what I had learned. I went online and read a lot of books and watched some tutorial videos so that I would be able to advance in music. Sometimes, while trying to do this learning by myself, I end up hanging in there because the more I learn, the harder it becomes.

Another thing about music is that no matter the instruments you play, you need to be commended for them because, generally, music is not for the weak, nor is it for the lazy, because you need to do a lot of rehearsal to put yourself up there and portray that you understand whatever you play.

There are lots of times when people come to me and say that they want to learn instruments, and I look at some of them and say, "Are you really ready to go through the stress of learning music?" Sometimes it sounds as if I do scare them from learning, but the truth of the matter is, can they go through the stress?

I remembered teaching someone some time ago, and he started and, at some point, relented and ran away. I tried so much to persuade him and make sure I put him in the right direction, which I have learned through, but one thing I know is that when you have permission for something, no matter what goes wrong or troubles you, you will always set your gaze on learning that thing.

Nothing in this life comes so easily because we all strive to acquire things that are great. Music is sweet, and music doesn't want everyone to know how to use it because of the benefits it holds. Having a boss to put you on the right path is very good, and it makes you thrive faster.. Also, when you have a boss, another thing to do is follow the steps that he or she has created for you to learn from. Going beyond yourself while learning is never profitable. Stay active and learn new things while you go..

I think if one is passionate about one thing, he will be willing to go through things to learn about it. It cannot be forced.

You are right ma'am.. That's why when you force people to do things, they endup loosing focus and the ability to do that thing within due time

Yeah, you are right. But I think most people do not believe in hard work and they do not know it when you do things and you are dedicated to it you can get a better rewards

That you have the intention of adding learning on your own is wonderful, because the musician must be curious and always wants to complement his learning, but having a mentor is extremely important, otherwise how do you know that you are really doing well in addition to what your ears hear? I have the virtue of having been born into a family of mentors and life continues to give me teachers, even from other parts of the world where I can continue to build great knowledge. I wish that for you too. Congratulations for this good post brother!...

Wao! That's would have been a nice one for you, if you were born in the midst of mentors. I never knew the advantage of having a mentor until I had one, and he was able to push me to doing great things and learning even beyond my own capacity.. Thanks brother for your view on this and thanks for you lovely comments..
