How Good Sound Brings Out the Best in Musicians.

Yesterday was a Sunday, and normally what we are meant to do on a Sunday is to relax and enjoy the weekend because we all have worked through our week, and we need to rest from the week's stress. But instead of resting, I decided to go to church as part of what I do on a Sunday. But then I was invited to a program, which I was told it was really necessary for me to come to, but not compulsory because it's not a force. So I just had to go because I wanted to explore some new environments and sounds.

Before leaving for the place or going for any programs, I asked questions about the place I am going to and the quality of the sound because for every event, the sound is my priority. When you go for a gig and then you get to the place to find out that they have a shabby sound. Trust me, one will feel very uncomfortable throughout the play. But when I got there, the sound engineer happened to be someone I knew from some of the gigs I go to.

I was resting assured that I am getting a better sound. When the program started, I did some sound checks, and I was convinced to some point. We started, and we played for about 6 hours at a stretch, which on a good day I don't like, probably because of the sound I meet in some places. But because the sound was very good, I was enjoying the music, and I was doing the playing also without even checking the time. But one thing that amazed me was that when it was past 8pm, I was now tired and was complaining to the band leader about leaving. So he had to just cut the shirt and make sure the program ended.

The bottom line is that when you are doing music, you need to make sure that you have some quality sound because good sound will determine what food will come out of what you do. When there is good sound, you can go far and beyond even what you know because sometimes, when we play to some kind of music, that music might be something we have heard for so long, but when you get a good sound and you hear that your song brings back memories, then you are unleashed, and you will be able to leave your safe zone to play meaningful lines and rhythms.

Yesterday was a fun one for me because I really felt that sweetness within me, and this time around, we were also really entertained. I eat to my own satisfaction because that's also part of going for gigs. In the end we were able to make some cash also that I used to convey myself back home after having a very long day. This is why it is good as a musician to try to learn widely so that you will be a versatile player, and when you are needed somewhere, you will be very relevant there.
