That "meh" feeling

Hello hello silver bloggers, music lovers and Hello hivers!

I don't often use the word meh. Is it even a word?

Well I just did a little research on meh!

Apparantly ...

its popular use today is widely credited to the animated TV show The Simpsons, which used it in an episode in 1994 and helped it enter common speech.

I know some Spanish speakers do say meh, but when I was in Spain they would say bah.

Either way, meh or bah sums up the state of play today.

According to Gemini, "Meh" is a colloquial interjection used to express a feeling of indifference, boredom, or a lack of interest or enthusiasm. It's often considered the verbal equivalent of a shrug.

It's Tuesday in most parts of the world already and you know what that means – time to share some tunes for the brilliant #threetunetuesday initiative started by @ablaze!

That "meh" feeling it's the perfect theme for this week's Three Tune Tuesday.

That "meh" feeling really has summed up today and it seems to me to be a perfect theme for this week's Three Tune Tuesday. The unpredictable end-of-summer weather, the quiet feeling on Hive, it all combines into a sense of indifference. It's a feeling of being in between seasons, both literally and emotionally.

So then, for this week's post we have "Songs for a 'Meh' State of Mind." These are tunes that perfectly capture that feeling of apathy, of things feeling a bit flat, or of just not really caring about the noise. It just feels that people just couldn't give a fluff, with me at the top of that pile!

Even the fluffing weather today has been in a meh mood. Yesterday we had a heatwave and one of the hottest days all summer and the hottest in August then this morning, a drop in temperature.

I popped down to Lidl our local supermarket for some groceries and it bloody well rained on me! Even the weather shat on me 🤣

Then in a turn of events, I went out at 5pm and all of a sudden glorious sun and a rise in temperature!

So of course I had to take a snap ...

The rest are for another day ...

With this change in weather comes a change in atmospheric pressure and my bones are saying just what the royal fluff is going on!!

One thing that music does is give us memories!

It is Tuesday and that of course means that it's #ttt or #threetunetuesday and so it's time to share some tunes with you!

People that know me will be surprised by one of the songs, or more appropriately one of the bands I have chosen!

First up we are going back to the 80s! No shock there then 🤣

The shock is the fact that the band is The Smiths...

I found them so fluffing morose and depressing but some people loved the voice of Morrisey and his lyrics..

Gemini says ...

Morrissey's lyrics are a poetic and often witty exploration of emotional isolation, social angst, and unrequited love, delivered with a distinctive blend of romanticism and mordant self-deprecation..

Tune 1 ~ The Smiths - How Soon Is Now?

The Smiths were an English rock band that formed in Manchester in 1982. The band consisted of singer Morrissey, guitarist Johnny Marr, bassist Andy Rourke, and drummer Mike Joyce. They became one of the most influential alternative rock bands of the 1980s, known for their distinct, jangly guitar sound and Morrissey’s witty, often morose, lyrics.

Actually I forgot just how good the music that Johnny Marr wrote was!

The three songs have all been chosen at random to match the meh mood. Gemini produced them, and they are three classics!

Tune 2 ~ R.E.M. - Everybody Hurts

R.E.M. was an American alternative rock band from Athens, Georgia, formed in 1980 by Bill Berry (drums), Peter Buck (guitar), Mike Mills (bass), and Michael Stipe (vocals). They became one of the most successful and critically acclaimed bands of the 1980s and 1990s, known for their unique sound and often cryptic lyrics.

Now R.E.M. were awesome and reading some of the comments in the YouTube comment section really touched me, music is simply amazing.

They really are a band that should be having their own #ttt I used to have loads of their albums!

We finish with one of my favourite bands and I had an English cousin who was absolutely daft on them and dressed just like Robert Smith the cofounder and vocalist of The Smiths.

Tune 3 ~ The Cure - Just Like Heaven

The Cure is an English rock band formed in Crawley in 1976. The band's consistent member and songwriter is Robert Smith, and they are known for their dark, gothic rock, and new wave sound. They became icons of the 1980s music scene and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2019.

So there you have it – three massive tunes from three massive groups of the 80s and 90s!

Which was your favourite walking tune or is it one of the many others that could have been chosen? Or have you never heard of these artists?!?

What tunes are you sharing this Tuesday? Let me know in the comments below!

Note: The 3 YouTube videos that I have shared are not owned by me, I am simply spreading great music on Hive.

I wish that you all have a brilliant happy fun and terrific Tuesday until we meet again enjoy your tunes 🎶🎵🎶

R.E.M is one of my favorite bands in the world. I have many CDs of theirs. In fact, I adore Losing My Religion. The weather here has been crazy as well. I hope the weather gets better for your bones. A hug from an angel.🪽

I feeling I think we all know well. All too well at times! The Smiths could make you borderline suicidal if you already felt that way! lol What a classic by R.E.M., I've always liked their music from the time I heard Life's Rich Pageant, what a great album. The Cure is another classic band that I've always enjoyed, Just Like Heaven is great song!

I didn't realize that meh came from The Simpsons, I learned something new so the day wasn't a waste! I hope the meh feeling is long gone and you're having a better evening!

Hello, @tengolotodo

I didn't know the grammatical interjection in English. Now, I know it's equivalent to Bah... But rest assured, your musical selection didn't leave me indifferent, especially REM's.

Greetings
