Scottish Ska with The Amphetameanies on ttt217
Hello music lovers and Hello hivers!
It's Tuesday again people and you know what that means – time to share some tunes for the brilliant #threetunetuesday initiative started by @ablaze!
This week I thought I would bring you a fun Scottish group who I would be very very surprised if anyone has heard of.
Being festival time, it is a band I have seen at a couple of festivals!
That band is The Amphetameanies
It is Tuesday and that of course means that it's #ttt or #threetunetuesday and so it's time to share some tunes with you!
@ablaze started #ttt 216 weeks ago! Go check out what it is all about on his last post Gym shuffle VI for Three Tune Tuesday - Week 217 - win 6 HBI
Do go support @ablaze as without him we would not have this mental fun musical activity that you can win HSBI from! I am happy to be one of the SIX sponsors and it is kinda fun checking out music from all over this global village of ours!
Long live #ttt 😁🎼 and #threetunetuesday
Where to start! I want to play you something upbeat and fun! So of course I thought of my favourite genre ska and decided to give you one of my favourite Scottish ska bands who I have seen live a few times.
I said they are Scottish already, and they come from Glasgow. The Amphetameanies burst onto the scene in 2003.
This energetic collective has seen a few line-up changes over the years, but their core sound, deeply rooted in traditional ska and two-tone, has remained consistently brilliant.
They remind of Buster Bloodvessel of Bad Manners and particulary with the bugger all budgeting video edits of Madness and did have some Madness stars feature with them.
Currently, the band features a formidable array of talent including Paul Cowan on vocals, Kenny Macleod on bass, Fraser Fulton on guitar, Paul McMahon on drums, Chris Marshall on trombone, Gary Irvine on trumpet, and Claire Smith on saxophone.
They create a powerful brass-driven sound that's impossible not to move to at least I think so!
Let's see what you think....
So, for this week’s #ThreetuneTuesday we have three tunes from The Amphetameanies.
So today we have three tunes from The Amphetameanies
Turns out we are going back to the years 1974/5 for all these songs!
Tune 1 ~ The Amphetameanies - Desert Culture
This tune was featured on their album "Now! That's What I Call...", which was released on October 13, 2006.
The brass section, the scooters and of course I need a beer too as I am watching Rangers play in Europe at the moment!
Tune 2 ~ The Amphetameanies - Say Something Special
This tune was released as part of the "Say Something Special EP" in 2004.
Horns and bouncing lyrics ... ska at its upfitting finest :)
For our final tune we are going to gate crash their 10th birthday party....
Tune 3 ~ The Amphetameanies - Goodbye Boyfriend
The studio version of "Goodbye Boyfriend" was released on the "Goodbye Boyfriend EP" on June 18, 2008.
So there you have it – three tunes from The Amphetameanies.
Which was your favourite The Amphetameanies tune or is it one of the many others that could have been chosen? Or have you never heard of them?!?
What tunes are you sharing this Tuesday? Let me know in the comments below!
Note: The 3 YouTube videos that I have shared are not owned by me, I am simply spreading great music on Hive.

The only ska i remember was Madness and the specials ..
They were the poster boys of 2tone, and some of my favourite bands.
No idea. I had never heard them before, but I liked it. Especially the piece “Say Something Special”. Have you ever been to a concert of theirs? I can imagine the fun and euphoria!!! A ska hug
They are fun aren't they and Rangers are winning :)
I can never remember if amphetamines are uppers or downers.... 😃
All downers in the end
Hehehe. You know😛. Haven't heard of their songs😌😌.
hehe and that is something I defo knew would be true hehe
