Come on Let's Dance!

Hello hello silver bloggers, music lovers and Hello hivers!

One of my favourite days because it means a post on Hive will be written by me, and I get to hear other music that Hivers and Hiveians enjoy. Well for the select band that participate in ttt anyway!

Picture by me and they are dancing... What do you think?

We are going back to my Silver Chronicles post of a few months ago My Soundtrack for the 80s my favourite decade

Quite a self-explanatory title and it is my inspiration for the next few posts on ttt!

The year is now 1983 and we are listening to a band that I have showcased at least once before on ttt ...

The lead image takes inspiration from the first song today.

3 tunes from 1983 by David Bowie.

It is Tuesday and that of course means that it's #ttt or #threetunetuesday and so it's time to share some tunes with you!

@ablaze started #ttt 269 weeks ago! Go check out what it is all about on his latest post Grunge for Three Tune Tuesday - Week 268 - win some HBI

Do go support @ablaze as without him we would not have this mental fun musical activity that you can win HSBI from! I am happy to be one of the SIX sponsors and it is kinda fun checking out music from all over this global village of ours!

He has just released some winners posts, so go support those posts, he gets no support from any whales or even curation trails for these posts that he does. 262 weeks is an incredible amount of time, and I for one love that he runs this, and I appreciate the time and dedication that he puts in, when he could be doing something else.

Long live #ttt 😁🎼 and #threetunetuesday

David Bowie

For this week’s ttt, we are back with one of the biggest artists in the world at the time.

David Bowie was huge and the master at reinventing himself.

Here are three amazing tunes from his Let's DAnce album of 1983.

Tune 1 - David Bowie - Let's Dance

We have to start with the title single from the album!

When MTV was dominating with glossy, superficial pop videos, Bowie used his massive platform as one of the biggest pop stars on the planet to shine a global spotlight on systemic racism and the oppression of Indigenous Australians.

Bowie travelled to Australia in early 1983 and shot the video mostly in the remote outback town of Carinda and around Sydney.

Instead of hiring typical actors or models, he cast two young students from the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Dance Theatre in Sydney—Joelene King and Terry Roberts.

The storyline in the video is a metaphor for cultural imperialism and white capitalist greed.

He is sorely missed.

Tune 2 - David Bowie - China Girl

Did you know that Chinese actress in the video is a New Zealander of Chinese descent by the name of Geeling Ng (now known professionally as Geeling Ching).

At the time, she was working in Sydney as a salad cook at a brasserie. She had no formal acting experience when she auditioned for the role, but Bowie picked her out to star alongside him in the video, which went on to win an MTV Video Music Award.

After shooting wrapped for the video in Australia, Bowie invited her to join him on tour in Europe. She flew on his private jet, attended his massive stadium shows, and they dated for a short period.

"It was just a moment in time and I got on with my life... David wasn't seeing anyone at the time, but I think I knew from getting the video and touring in Europe, it was just a ride to enjoy and not to expect any more than that."

Some fluffing ride!!!

Tune 3 - David Bowie - Modern Love

I like this one too, and it was a toss up between this and Without You to close us out!

So there you have it, 3 songs released in 1983 from David Bowie and his Let's Dance album with my 80s Soundtrack post as the inspiration!

I'm really glad I got the chance to see Bowie before he passed away. I don't remember a ton about the concert, but I know I was there!

Bowie certainly made some great music.

Thank you guys for keeping silverbloggers going and Lizzie is making slow progress under the treatments. Let's hope that she will fully recover, but it is going to be a slow process.
