Charity and Classic Rock: A Three Tune Tuesday Discovery

Hello music lovers and Hello hivers!

It's Tuesday, and you know what that means – time to share some tunes for the brilliant #threetunetuesday initiative started by @ablaze!

This week we are rolling back the years and listening to one of the Queens of Rock n Roll!

That Queen is Pat Benatar.

Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Pat Benatar

It is Tuesday and that of course means that it's #ttt or #threetunetuesday and so it's time to share some tunes with you!

@ablaze started #ttt 212 weeks ago! Go check out what it is all about on his last post French Cafe music for Mardi des Trois Tunes - Week 211 - win 6 HBI

Do go support @ablaze as without him we would not have this mental fun musical activity that you can win HSBI from! I am happy to be one of the SIX sponsors and it is kinda fun checking out music from all over this global village of ours!

Long live #ttt 😁🎼 and #threetunetuesday

Where to start!

A wander through the charming streets of South Queensferry is always a fun thing to do. The colourful houses, the view of the iconic Forth Bridges, and as was the case last Tuesday when we visited, finding hidden gems within one of its charity shops.

It was in one of these Aladdin's caves called Barnados (I remember it used to be called Dr Barnados or at least I thought I did!) that I stumbled upon a vinyl record nestled between dusty paperbacks and shelves of bric a brac that instantly transported me back to an era of big hair, bold sounds, and female rock royalty.

image.png

Funnily enough that big hair seems to be coming back in style. I mean mullets for men! God help us!

The record One Love was by the one and only Pat Benatar, and it felt like she was the perfect find to share for this week's Three Tune Tuesday on the Hive Blockchain.

image.png

For those who may not know, Pat Benatar was a powerhouse of the 80s rock scene! She was a four-time Grammy winner with a voice that could be both ferocious and tender as we shall soon discover.

In November 2022, she was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

The induction recognized her significant impact on the music industry and her legacy as a pioneering female rock vocalist. She was inducted alongside her long-time musical partner and husband, Neil Giraldo.

Finding this record was a reminder of her incredible talent and the string of hits that defined a generation. So let's fluffing rock on with three of my favourite tracks from the queen of arena rock.

image.png

So today we have three tunes from Pat Benatar

image.png

Tune 1 ~ Pat Benatar - Heartbreaker

First up we have Heartbreaker which was released on October 26, 1979. It was the second single from her debut studio album In the Heat of the Night.

Heartbreaker is pure unadulterated rock and roll!

Awesome guitar riffs and it's the perfect introduction to Benatar's feisty persona and powerful vocals. I love her energy and it gets me slapping up the volume and singing along at six in the morning as I write this 🎤🤣

image.png

Tune 2 ~ Pat Benatar - We Belong

Next up we have the soaring and heartfelt ballad, We Belong. I did say earlier that she can be both ferocious and tender well We Belong showcases this.

We Belong was released on October 16, 1984, and served as the lead single from her fifth studio album, Tropico.

The chorus is fluffing epic and reiterates that even in the toughest of times we have each other to hold on to.

image.png

Tune 3 ~ Pat Benatar - Love Is a Battlefield

Right then for the finale I just have to include the iconic and Grammy-winning Love Is a Battlefield.

Love Is a Battlefield was released on September 12, 1983. While it was a studio recording, it was released as a single from her live album, Live from Earth.

An unforgettable chorus, cracking storytelling that is still relevant today. The timeless narratives of youthful rebellion and the struggles of love make it a fluffing classic. The accompanying music video is just as legendary, a powerful piece of 80s pop culture! Who remembers FAME?

image.png

So there you have it – three tunes from Pat Benatar.

Finding that old piece of vinyl priced at £2 was a wonderful piece of serendipity. It was a fantastic reminder of the enduring power of Pat Benatar's music and has given me inspiration for this week. I hope you've enjoyed this little trip back to the 80s for Three Tune Tuesday.

Now I have to run to Dunfermline to see my physiotherapist, and see what tortures she puts me though today!

Which was your favourite Pat Benatar tune or is it one of the many others that could have been chosen? Or have you never heard of her?!?

What tunes are you sharing this Tuesday? Let me know in the comments below!

Note: The 3 YouTube videos that I have shared are not owned by me, I am simply spreading great music on Hive.

I wish that you all have a brilliant happy fun and terrific Tuesday until we meet again enjoy your tunes 🎶🎵🎶

Thanks for visiting!

All right! Rock and Roll! At first I thought that image was of a man! I didn’t look well.

Now for this song… Heart Breaker! This is the kind of Rock and Roll I can listen to. It’s soft and hard at the same time. I don’t know if it’s because of her voice. Heartbreaker is just perfect. I always have issues with some Rocks for how loud they can be. But this is perfect!!!! And those guitar riffs are just muaaaah! Listen to that voice!!!!!!!

Okay I see what you mean! We Belong is ahhh… something I can let play while creating on Canva. That’s awesome! And I love the instrumentals honestly. Especially the intro. It hooked me. Despite 80s it almost gave me 2020’s pop! And the lyrics. I can see why she’s rock royalty. She is amazing!!!! I think this is my favourite song!!!!!!

Okay! Wait! Before I say how much I love this song. What the fuck was that did I just see in the background?!🤣 That man was on very short white shorts and his top was cropped?! What you guys were into exhibitionism that early? 🤣🤣🤣. But this song is beautiful and yes such a compelling story!!! Look at that dance! I got goosebumps from watching them! Ahhhh! And oh my! The splash water scene is absolutely my favorite.

Gosh! I can’t choose. But I think Love is a Battlefield wins this round! Maybe cause of the video? Arrrgh! I loved it soooo much. Thank you for sharing these beautiful tunes with us.

Did this inspire Deraa to pen some lyrics!

Haha you should google FAME the series and you will so much fashion and songs that you guys have regurgitated lmao.

Yeah she was a pop rock if you like, more softer than hard but she had a great voice, and the songs are all cool.

I love this comment Deraa!

I think We Belong is probably my favorite of the three. Love is a Battlefield is great, but there is just something about We Belong that really gets me. I think it might have to do with the children's choir or whatever it is in the background.

I agree there is definitely something slightly different about We Belong. The children's choir was different as was the waterfall thingy lol

I went to the 80's! I remembered Fame and the rebelliousness of youth. I enjoyed all three songs, but if I had to choose one it would be We Belong. It goes with my temper. Very nice selection, Ed. Musical hug 🎶

Jeez, I haven't listened to her in years. Thanks for reminding me. You picked some great songs. One of her my favorite songs is "All Fired Up"
