Beautiful Blues and Eels with a bit of Shrek in ttt 143
Hello Hello to all you wonderful Hivians and music lovers
It was a beautiful weekend
Rangers won and went top of the league for the first time since Aug 2022!
Glasgow is blue was the X (formerly known as Twitter banter), blue is my favourite colour and thinking of blue the first song that popped in my head was the inspiration for today's edition of ttt and a band that I have not played on threetunetuesday before.
It is Tuesday and that of course means that it's #ttt or #threetunetuesday and so it's time to share some tunes with you!
As you know I love drawing in inspiration from many places for my three tune tuesday post.
@ablaze started #ttt 143 weeks ago! Go check out what it is all about on his latest post Thomas Chambers for Three Tune Tuesday - Week 142 - 11 HBI shares to be won!
Do go support @ablaze as without him we would not have this mental fun musical activity that you can win HSBI from! I am happy to be one of the ELEVEN sponsors and it is kinda fun checking out music from all over this global village of ours!
Long live #ttt 😁🎼 and #threetunetuesday
Today we are going across the water to the 90s mostly but some naughties too.
Eels is an American rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1991 by singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Mark Oliver Everett, known by the stage name E.
Eels inspired ttt
Eels - Mr. E's Beautiful Blues
So the reason I gave you the wee snippet that the driving force and creator of Eels was Mark Oliver Everett and that his stage name is E,was so you got the reference for the song.
Fun fact
This was recorded at the last minute for "Daisies of the Galaxy" at the request of label executives who insisted that the album needed a single.
It wasn't a big hit but it most defo is one of their most sunny songs so to speak!
What better way than to hear it live!
Eels - Novocaine For The Soul
If there is one Eels song that you knew or had heard of without realising you had then it would be Novocaine for the Soul
The intro sure gives it away!
This was from their debut album and released in the mid 90s at the height of grunge.
It does showcase the songwriting capabilities of E though!
Eels - I Need Some Sleep
This is another song now that I think of it that you might recognise espically if you are a Shrekie!
Over a distorted music box, E slips in and out of falsetto as fatigue leads his mind down dark alleys. It’s a lullaby for anyone too consumed by anxiety to ever properly turn off.
That quote from The 11 best Eels songs summed the song up.
I hope that you enjoyed these Eels tunes.
Which was your favourite (if any) ?
Note: The three four YouTube videos that I have shared are not owned by me, I am simply spreading great music on Hive.
I wish that you all have a brilliant rest of your week, and until we meet again enjoy your tunes 🎶🎵🎶

Nice rock songs boss boss, I think you are in a giveaway mood. You're giving four times the tunes😁
A bit of rock makes the day a truly good one!
That and honey...
Lol, yes of course, adding good old honey to the mix will surely sweeten things up boss boss
I wasn't familiar with the Eals, but I recognised Novacain for the brain, also that video pretty sick.
Also, I remember I Need Sleep from the film, not immediatly, but as the song went it came back.
Been a long time since watching the Shrek movies, and now I feel like watching them again haha

A great band and E is a great songwriter. hehe there you go, you have an excuse to watch some Shrek!
Novocaine for the soul is the only song by them that I am familiar with. I am not sure why, but I never would have guessed they were from the US.
It is funny but for many years I used to think they were Australian!
I can understand that!
I don't think I knew this band, but they are GREAT. As always you share music that I like. Hugs @tengolotodo
Note: I really like the first song!
