P-Pop Kings "SB19" Performed GENTO!!! --- First Southeast Asian Group in "THE FIRST TAKE"... <3

I am a huge fan of Japanese culture including anime and music. One of the reasons why I started learning their language was to understand the lyrics of their songs. Although I've been quite lazy on that part, I still do enjoy listening to them and understand at least a bit of the lyrics. Anyway, music transcends language. No matter what language they use, we can still enjoy it.

In Japan, there is this very popular YouTube channel called THE FIRST TAKE. At the moment, it has 9.8 million subscribers from all over the world. It's concept is interesting and very challenging. In a white studio with a microphone in front, someone can perform anything they like... however, there's one simple rule. They only got one take, so they have to do it as smoothly as they can.

The first time I became aware of this platform was around four years ago when LiSA (a Japanese singer) sang her famous song Gurenge which is the opening of the anime Kimetsu no Yaiba. I love this song and I'm a LiSA fan, so I got curious. Later on, I've watched some of my other favorite Japanese artists like YUURI, Yoasobi, Spyair, Burnout Syndromes, etc. perform in the said platform.

It always looked pretty nerve-wracking especially because of the rule they implemented. Well, not only that... they use less intrumentals and focused mainly on the vocals.

Last July 1st, my favorite P-pop group, SB19 was featured in this platform and it made me really proud and happy!

They're the first Southeast Asian artist to be nominated in the Top Social Artist at the 2021 U.S. Billboard Music Awards... and now, they're also the first SE Asian artist to ever perform in The First Take. <3

They performed GENTO which is the main song of their EP Pagtatag. The same song became a huge hit on TikTok and many people and artists all enjoyed listening and dancing to it.

These guys really did well in their performance in THE FIRST TAKE. I'm truly proud of what they have achieved. I became a fan more than four years ago and they have really soared high since then. Despite that, they really kept their feet on the ground.
